<strong><u>Baltimore</u></strong><strong><u> Orioles</u></strong>

Finding spots to back Baltimore won’t be easy. It won’t be fun. The Orioles are locked in a division with two teams that could very well win 100 games and a Rays team that should be a fixture in the Wild Card race. The Blue Jays are a more comparable foe, but Toronto went 14-5 against Baltimore last season.

Everybody knows how bad the Orioles are. When they play good teams, they’ll be a significant underdog. When they don’t, they’ll still likely be an underdog.

Here’s a good prop bet for you: Will the Orioles be a favorite of -150 or higher at any point this season?

It happened three times last year. Kevin Gausman was -151 against the Tigers on April 29. Dylan Bundy was -155 against the Royals on May 8 and Gausman was a -153 favorite against the Marlins on June 15. The Orioles were 1-2 in those games. They won’t play Miami again and Gausman is gone to Atlanta.

<strong><u>Money Line Spots</u></strong>

Situationally, the Orioles might sneak up on some teams. For example, if the Yankees or Red Sox come off of facing each other or the Rays. Other visiting teams may swing through Washington D.C. for interleague or head down the east coast from Boston or the Bronx. A lot of teams will take games for granted against the Orioles.

Baltimore was 21-33 against left-handed starters last season, which wasn’t great, by any means, but also not terrible. They were 26-82 against right-handed starters. The Tigers, Royals, and White Sox lost 74, 74, and 75 games, respectively, but keep in mind that they also face the Indians’ elite rotation of righties.

<strong><u>Totals Spots</u></strong>

The problem for Baltimore is that the team had a putrid offense last season and that was with guys like Manny Machado and Adam Jones. Jones isn’t much of a hitter at this stage, but at least he’s better than what the Orioles will be throwing out there this season. Even with one of the league’s worst starting rotations, the Orioles should be an under team. They slanted that way last season at 83-73-6 to the under. I would expect a bigger split to the under this year.

The Orioles have (finally) embraced analytics. Typically, it is quicker to make gains on the pitching side than the hitting side with analytics. I would expect their pitchers to show strides faster than the lineup.

<strong><u>Individual Players to Watch</u></strong>

<strong>Alex Cobb – </strong>Cobb is one guy I discussed at length in my season preview. In the first half, he allowed a .310/.358/.541 slash and a .378 wOBA. In the second half, he allowed a .229/.288/.377 slash with a .287 wOBA against. Cobb is mostly a one-pitch pony with a splitter that he needs to throw a ton in order to be effective. The average exit velocity against on Cobb’s splitter went from 86.1 mph in the first half to 83.4 mph in the second half. His overall exit velocity against dropped from 89.3 mph to 86.5 mph from first half to second half.

He’s accustomed to embracing data after a long stint with the Rays to open his career. He’s the only starter I’d confidently consider in this rotation.

<strong>Dylan Bundy – </strong>Let’s talk about Bundy for a second. Bundy did make some smart decisions with his arsenal, as he threw his slider more and his changeup and curveball less last season. The problem is that Bundy, a perennial injury risk, needs to be one of those 30+% slider guys to be really effective. If that’s a change that we see happening, I’ll bump his stock. If not, his arsenal is rather pedestrian otherwise, especially with a velocity drop last season.

<strong>Mychal Givens – </strong>The anchor of the Orioles pen is a little scary. Givens posted a 3.99 ERA with a 64.5 percent LOB%, which is a positive sign. On the other hand, his strikeout rate fell, his walk rate went up, and his 5.0 percent HR/FB% is likely in line for some regression. This is not a good bullpen. Givens is the best of the bunch, but full-game betting with Baltimore will be scary because this bullpen will struggle to hold the rare leads it will be trusted to protect.

<p>The final fight of the night should be the best of them all as Serghei Spivac is set to take on Marcin Tybura in the main event. Not only will this be a huge battle between some ranked heavyweights, but this will also be a rematch.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Spivac is coming into this fight well-rested, but that’s also because he hasn’t really found a good fight to take on. Tybura is 8-2 in his last 10 fights, and he is a fighter that is never afraid to take on a challenge.&nbsp;</p>



<p>The betting odds for this matchup are tight, but it’s Spivac that is the betting favorite at -150, while Tybura is sitting at +130. This should be a great battle, but going with Tybura at +130 is the bet to make as he is in great rhythm.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Interesting Bantamweight Bout</h2>



<p>Due to some conflicts, there was a new fight thrown together that will feature an interesting matchup between bantamweight opponents. Chris Gutierrez will be taking on Quang Lee on Saturday night, and these two fighters could not be more different.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Gutierrez is fighter that has been in the mix in the bantamweight division over the last few years, but he has never been able to break through. He comes into this fight at -350 to get the win, and this would be a big win for his career arc.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Lee was thrown into this fight as a solid contender, but he has not yet proven that he can win big fights at this level. There is a reason that his odds are sitting at +275, but he could find a way to pull off an upset in this one.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Other Fighters to Back</h2>



<p>Every UFC Fight Night is filled with some great fights, and things are going to be the same for this event. Not only will the two main fights stand out, but there are also some other bets to check out.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Chepe Mariscal is another <a href="https://www.bangthebook.com/s/bookmaker/">bet</a> that should be made on Saturday as he will be able to come away with a big win. Mariscal has odds set at -215 to get a big win over Damon Jackson at +185. </p>



<p>There will also be a great battle between women, and this will be a fight to take an upset. Chelsea Chandler (+117) is going to pull off the slight upset over Yana Santos (-137) in what should be a thrilling battle.</p>

<p>Falling behind 2-0 early, the Golden Knights rallied to score four unanswered goals, with four different players contributing to the comeback. Brett Howden’s goal at 17:45 in overtime sealed the victory for Vegas.</p><p>In their 4-3 overtime win, the Golden Knights fired 35 shots on goal and scored four times, with Brett Howden netting his 6th goal of the season in overtime. William Karlsson added his 2nd goal of the year, while Pavel Dorofeyev scored his 7th and Noah Hanifin his 2nd.</p> <p>Hanifin also picked up two assists, bringing his total to 5 for the season. Vegas had 13 giveaways and none of their goals came on the power play.</p><p>Defensively, the Golden Knights will look to start stronger after allowing the first three goals in their previous game. They gave up two in the first period and another in the third, which tied the game at 3-3. Adin Hill finished with a save percentage of 84.2% on 19 shots from Utah.</p><h3>Can the Maple Leafs Secure a Win at Home?</h3><p>After a 2-1 overtime loss to the Wild, the Maple Leafs are now 11-6-2. Toronto was the underdog on the puck line and the total was set at 6 goals, but both teams combined for just 3.</p> 

<p>All the scoring happened after the Wild found the net at 9:41 in the first period. Toronto tied it up with 19:08 left in the first, thanks to a power-play goal from William Nylander. The Wild clinched the win with a goal 2:14 into overtime.</p><p>William Nylander netted his 9th goal of the season, scoring on a power play at 19:08 of the first period. Auston Matthews, with his 6th assist, and Mitchell Marner, who now has 12 assists, contributed on Nylander’s goal.</p> <p>Toronto took 28 shots on goal but gave the puck away 10 times. After Nylander’s early goal, the Leafs were held scoreless through the second and third periods, as well as overtime.</p><p>Defensively, the Maple Leafs gave up the first goal at 9:41 in the first period and the game-winner at 2:14 in overtime. Anthony Stolarz made 31 saves with a 93.9% save percentage. The defense also recorded 2 takeaways and 30 hits.</p>
