<p>The 2021-22 NBA season goes on Wednesday, November 17, when Dallas and Phoenix open their three-game regular-season series, so we have prepared the best Mavericks vs. Suns betting pick along with the latest team stats and news.</p>

<p>Dallas has won five of its last six games overall, including the previous two. During that six-game stretch, Luka Doncic has averaged 26.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 8.8 assists a night, so his eventual absence would be a huge blow for the Mavericks’ offense.</p>



<p>The Mavs are tallying 107.6 points per 100 possessions (19<sup>th</sup> in the NBA) on 44.1% shooting from the field (tied-21<sup>st</sup>) and 33.3% from beyond the arc (tied-22<sup>nd</sup>). They rank sixth in the league in 3-point attempts per game (39.3).</p>



<h2>The Suns look unstoppable </h2>



<p>The Phoenix Suns (10-3; 8-5 ATS) are rolling on a nine-game winning streak following a 99-96 victory at the Minnesota Timberwolves last Monday. They narrowly failed to cover a 4-point spread, but it was an ugly game, as both teams shot way below 40 percent from the field.</p>



<p>Chris Paul dominated the T-Wolves down the stretch, tallying 19 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter. Deandre Ayton returned from a five-game absence caused by the leg injury and posted a 22-point, 12-rebound double-double, while Devin Booker accounted for 29 points and five assists.</p>



<p>Booker is leading the way for the Suns this season, averaging 22.9 points, 6.0 boards, and 5.5 dimes per contest. The Suns are scoring 111.0 points per 100 possessions (4<sup>th</sup> in the NBA) on a 47.0% shooting from the field (tied-2<sup>nd</sup>) and 35.0% from beyond the 3-point line (14<sup>th</sup>).</p>

If Luka hits the sidelines, the Suns shouldn’t have any problems winning this game by seven or more points, but covering the spread would be a tricky task if Doncic suits up.</p>



<p>The Suns are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 outings as favorites of 6.5 or fewer points. They’ve dominated the Mavs as of late, going 6-0 straight up and ATS in their last six encounters.</p>

<p>Hereof, I don’t expect to see a proper high-scoring affair. The Mavs will try to slow down things and keep in mind that Dallas is taking good care of the ball, making the fewest turnovers per 100 possessions (12.7). The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings between Dallas and Phoenix.</p>

Their two-point shooting was a strong 58.1% (25/43), though they struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 25% (4/16) of their threes. At the free-throw line, they connected on 81.8% of their attempts (18/22).</p> <p>Lamar Washington and Will McClendon both contributed 14 points, with Washington also dishing out 10 assists. Elias Ralph added 14 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 60% from the field. Josh Uduje led the team with 15 points, despite missing all three of his three-point attempts.</p><p>Even with Pacific's defense holding them to 67 points, the opposing team managed to draw fouls and capitalize at the free-throw line, hitting 20 of 24 for 83%. Donavan Yap and Tom Beattie each added 16 points, with Yap hitting 3 of 4 from deep. Marcus Greene also had a strong game, scoring 11 points on 5 of 6 shooting and dishing out 4 assists.</p><p>Hawaii's defense struggled in their last game, giving up 69 points on 54% shooting. They allowed 30 made field goals on 55 attempts.</p> <p>Inside the arc, Hawaii's opponents shot 66%, hitting 24 of 36 two-point shots. From three-point range, they went 6/19, a 31% clip.</p>

The Baltimore Ravens (6-5 SU, 5-5-1 ATS) have been through a heck of a lot over the last two and a half weeks or so, and although some of this was their own doing, we have seen just how much a team can be disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Tuesday night they will play a rescheduled game against the Dallas Cowboys (3-8 SU, 2-9 ATS) at their home venue of M&amp;T Bank Stadium (8 PM ET). First of all, to answer a question many people were wondering about, Lamar Jackson, the reigning league MVP, will indeed make the start for the Ravens. Or at least that is what we have been told. Jackson had to sit out the last game against Pittsburgh, like quite a few of his teammates who were put on the COVID-19 reserve list. In effect, the Ravens went with a junior varsity contingent to Heinz Field and actually got the cover in a 19-14 loss that was played six days after it had been originally scheduled.

Along with Jackson, the Ravens will have Mark Ingram and JK Dobbins available for duty in the backfield, along with additional offensive linemen like Matt Skura. Defensive players like Pernell McPhee and Calais Campbell have been cleared as well. In other words, without having to go down the whole list, while they are not back to full strength, they are an awful lot stronger in terms of personnel.

And it's a good thing about Jackson too. Robert Griffin III, who had to fill in against Pittsburgh, injured his hamstring and will be unavailable for the next three games. So Trace McSorley, who threw a 70-yard touchdown pass to Marquise Brown to get the cover against the Steelers, is the backup.

Andy Dalton is obviously no stranger to facing the Ravens and their head coach, John Harbaugh. He has gone 8-8 lifetime against Baltimore (while with the Bengals), but you know, out of all the teams he has played more than five games against in his NFL career, this is the one against whom he has the lowest QB rating. Dalton has thrown 21 TD passes with 18 interceptions in those 16 starts.

And while he has been known as a quarterback who holds the ball too long, he has a different dilemma here. Dalton has had to get rid of the ball quickly, simply because his offensive line doesn't have the ability to protect him. In fact, he threw the ball within 2.08 seconds of the snap in the 41-16 loss to Washington on Thanksgiving Day. That is super quick.

And consequently receivers don't really have a chance to get into their routes, which might be especially important with a pretty good trio like the Cowboys have in Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup and CeeDee Lamb. Dalton's Intended Air Yards in these last two games has been 6.1 per throw, which doesn't cover much ground. That may be Drew Brees' game, but it doesn't work quite the same here.

Dallas suffered more offensive line attrition on Turkey Day, as left tackle Cam Erving sprained his MCL, while Zack Martin, an All-Pro guard who had been shifted to right tackle out of necessity, hurt his calf. They won't be available on Tuesday.

And there is, of course, a ripple effect. There's an occasional Ezekiel Elliott sighting, but the former NFL rushing champion has averaged just 3.9 yards per carry and has only one game of more than 100 yards.

Meanwhile, a former Cowboy is a part of this story line. Dez Bryant has been getting himself back into football shape, and has caught four passes for 28 yards since he was signed.

He has downplayed previous conflicts with the Dallas organization, which unceremoniously dropped him after three All-Pro seasons in his eight-year tenure. And he's been giving a lot of "happy talk." But you know he's all tuned up for this. And maybe the Ravens need a little "pop" downfield, since we would forecast Dallas is going to try to stop the run first.

Certainly we realize that the Baltimore offense has underperformed. But Dallas' O-line problems seem too much to overcome. So we are going to lay the points here.

NFL Odds & Preview -- Ravens Get the MVP Back in Time To Face Cowboys

The last of the Final Four teams will be decided in the late game on Tuesday night between UCLA and Michigan. Michigan is supposed to be here as a #1 seed. Going into the Elite Eight, UCLA has the most wins in the NCAA Tournament with four by virtue of being a #11 seed in the play-in game against Michigan State. The Bruins trailed by as many as 11 in that game, yet here they are, one game away from winning the East Region.

It will be a tall task, as Michigan is favored by seven points with a total of 135.5 at <a href="http://bangthebook.com/sportsbooks/bookmaker"><strong>Bookmaker Sportsbook</strong></a>, but the Pac-12 has been up to a lot of tall tasks so far and the Bruins hope to conquer another higher-seeded team.

Let’s dig into the particulars of this one and see if we can pick a winner in the game.
<h3><strong><u>UCLA Bruins</u></strong></h3>
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some people would call UCLA’s run to the Elite Eight quite beautiful. Others would call it lucky. Alabama had an out-of-body experience at the free throw line in the Sweet 16 going just 11-of-25 on free throw attempts. Herb Jones was 2-of-7 as a 71% shooter, which is roughly where the Tide finished as a team.

The Bruins did show a lot of panache in coming back against Michigan State, but Sparty was one of the last teams in the field. The win over BYU was an impressive one and one of UCLA’s top performances to date, but a 20-point win over a gassed Abilene Christian team didn’t really impress anybody.

Here’s the thing, though. UCLA has scored 1.202, 1.215, 1.069, and 1.109 points per possession in this tournament. The Bruins have taken phenomenal care of the basketball with low turnover totals in all four games. In fact, so low that they’ve won the turnover battle in each one, despite a pretty low takeaway percentage.

One key difference is that UCLA is 34-of-85 from three. Opponents are collectively 20-of-82. The Bruins are not a great three-point defense or really a great defense at all. They are the second-lowest rated defense left in the field. Only Oregon State, a team having similar luck defending three-point shots, is lower.

The offensive surge for the Bruins coupled with some good luck and some play on the defensive end have this team in this position, sitting in the Elite Eight with a winning streak in the NCAA Tournament that matches the losing streak that went into Selection Sunday. Does it end here?

<h3><strong><u>Michigan</u></strong><strong><u> Wolverines</u></strong></h3>
Everybody, myself included, expected Florida State to be a bad matchup for Michigan. The Seminoles had one main weakness and that was their turnover percentage on offense. They were facing a Michigan defense that doesn’t force turnovers and only forced three against LSU. Florida State proceeded to play arguably its worst game of the season and threw the basketball away like it was on fire in the Sweet 16 game.

Or, we can look at it from the other side. Maybe Michigan is really that good. Maybe the Wolverines are not only deserving of the #1 seed that they got, but are truly one of the five best teams in the country. The proof seems to be in the pudding, not only with this NCAA Tournament run sans Isaiah Livers, but with the full-season body of work from the metrics.

Michigan went into the Elite Eight as one of three teams left in the field in the top 10 in both offensive and defensive efficiency. Baylor and Gonzaga were the other two. The Wolverines survived a faux-vid pause when the entire Michigan athletic department shut down, even though the men’s basketball team had no cases. The Wolverines bounced back from the loss to Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament. They silenced doubters, myself included against both LSU and Florida State.

So what comes next? Do the Wolverines, an extremely efficient offense and defense, take advantage of the opportunity to play an 11 seed for the right to go to the Final Four? That seems like the case at this point, but will they win by margin and cover the seven-point spread in the process. Extra possessions won’t come easy for a defense with a 14.8% TO%, but points could, as the Wolverines are in the top 15 in 3P% and the top 40 in 2P%.

Not to mention, where Alabama missed free throws and basically lost the game at the stripe, Michigan is a 77.4% free throw shooting team. Livers was one of the best at 87%, but the Wolverines have several high-usage players that do well at the line and can put this game away.
<h3><strong><u>Pick &amp; Analysis</u></strong></h3>
Michigan should win this game. We’ll start with that. As much as the Pac-12 has cuddled up at night with rabbit’s feet, shamrocks, horseshoes, and a magic lamp with a genie in it, the Wolverines seem to have just about every advantage in this game, including one on the sidelines, as Juwan Howard has done a phenomenal job with this team.

Will the Wolverines cover the seven points? Is the total a better way to look here? I would say Michigan -7 is the play. The Wolverines are such an efficient offense and they shoot the ball so well. As good as Alabama is, the Crimson Tide are outside the top 100 in 2P% and exactly 100th in 3P%. They were a better defensive team that played at a high enough pace to score a lot of points.

Michigan State was no good on offense and Abilene Christian was stepping up in class. BYU was a good offense, but in a West Coast Conference with minimal defense.

It’s Michigan -7 for me.
