<p>Jared Shuster got the start for the White Sox and took the loss. He only lasted two innings, giving up six earned runs. Offensively, the White Sox scored their other three runs in the 6th but could only cut the Guardians lead to 8-4. Lenyn Sosa had a big game at the plate, going 2/4 with a homer and two RBIs.</p><p>Chicago is on the road today vs. the Marlins, and they are 25-64 overall, putting them 5th in the AL Central. So far, they have really struggled against other AL Central teams, going 7-23. Looking at how far back they are in the division, the White Sox trail the Guardians by 31 games.</p>

<p>The White Sox have really struggled on the road this year, going 9-35 compared to a 16-29 mark at home. Chicago has really had a tough time as the underdog, going 20-63 this year. As for their record when favored, they are 5-1. Chicago's overall series record is 6-21-2, and they lost their most recent series, dropping two games to the Guardians.</p><p>Chicago has been a good bet against the run line this season, going 41-48. They have been a better bet on the road, where they are 19-25 against the run line, compared to 22-23 at home. The White Sox have been a good bet as the underdog, going 36-47 against the run line in those games. Robert Jr. has three homers in this stretch, while Sosa has gone deep twice.</p><h3>Marlins Records & Stats</h3><p>The Marlins will be looking to get back on track after closing out their series vs. the Red Sox with a 6-5 loss. This was especially tough, as they held a lead going into the 11th inning before the Red Sox scored two runs in the top of the 11th. Miami was the +133 underdog at home going into the game.</p>

<p>Kyle Tyler put together a good start for the Marlins, going 5 1/3 innings and giving up just two runs on three hits. He only had three strikeouts in the outing and didn't issue a walk. However, the Marlins couldn't close things out, and Matt Andriese took the loss out of the bullpen. Jesus Sanchez had a big game at the plate, going 3/5 with a homer and two RBIs.</p><p>Miami is 5th in the NL East, trailing the Phillies by 27 games. Overall, the Marlins are 30-57 and have lost four straight games. So far, they are just 7-19 in divisional games.</p>

<p>At home, the Marlins are 16-30 compared to 14-27 on the road. As the underdog, the Marlins are 27-45 this season, but they are just 3-12 when favored. Miami's overall series record is 7-19-2, and they were swept in their most recent series vs. the Red Sox.</p><p>The Marlins have been a solid run line bet on the road this season, going 21-20. Their overall run line record is 38-49, but they have been a poor bet at home, going just 17-29. Jazz Chisholm Jr. has also been a solid power threat, with 10 homers this season. Over his last seven games, Jesús Sánchez has gone 9/24 with two homers and four RBIs. He is also on a three-game hitting streak.</p>

The Suns sent them to the line 26 times, where they made 16 free throws. Phoenix also recorded 40 defensive rebounds, gave up 12 offensive boards, and added 7 steals and 4 blocks.</p><h3>Will Charlotte Win at Home?</h3><p>The Hornets fell to 7-27 on the season after a 115-105 road loss to the Cavaliers on Sunday. Charlotte entered the game as +16 point underdogs but managed to keep the final margin to 10 points. The combined score of 220 points fell short of the 230.5-point over/under line.</p> <p>Charlotte’s chances took a hit early when Cleveland went on a 10-0 run, stretching the lead from 34-25 to 44-25. The Hornets outscored the Cavaliers 57-52 in the second half but couldn’t overcome the 91-78 deficit heading into the 4th quarter.</p><p>In their 115-105 loss to the Cavaliers, the Hornets shot 41.8% from the field, with a 35.7% mark from three-point range, hitting 15 threes overall. LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller each scored 24 points, with Miller hitting 6 threes at a 60% rate, while Nick Smith added 18 points, connecting on 4 threes at 66.7%.</p> <p>Ball contributed 9 points in the 4th quarter, while Miller added 11 in the 3rd. Smith scored 7 points in the final period, and Miles Bridges and Mark Williams each added 7 points in the 2nd half.</p><p>Defensively, the Hornets struggled in the 2nd quarter, giving up 34 points, but they tightened up in the 4th, allowing just 24 points. Overall, they allowed 115 points on 47% shooting from the Cavaliers.</p> <p>From beyond the arc, the Hornets allowed Cleveland to hit 15 threes at a 34% clip. They sent the Cavaliers to the line 16 times, where they made 12 free throws. Charlotte finished with 35 defensive rebounds, gave up 9 offensive boards, and recorded 9 steals and 4 blocks.</p>

Phoenix Suns vs Charlotte Hornets Betting Pick & Prediction 1/7/25

Tuesday night brings us a larger nine-game slate to discuss.

As for Monday, Charlotte was this close several times to covering as there was one overtime, then a second. Thankfully the extra point turned out to be needed as a loss turned into a push in a game that sailed past the over.

Fortunately, Denver’s shooting heated up just enough along with their defensive intensity. Milwaukee had few answers as their perimeter shooting was contested and at best ice cold most of the night. The result was an easy double-digit point win for the Nuggets that was never in doubt.

Our overall record is 31-26-3 on the season and yes, leans mean there is no consensus spread out yet. However, staying away from the Toronto-Utah game if the spread moved too high proved to be prophetic.

<h3><strong>Orlando Magic (+2.5) vs Memphis Grizzlies</strong>
<strong>O/U: 222.5</strong></h3>
Orlando and Memphis are sort of the irresistible force meets the movable object. In one of the crazier games to look at. There is some total contrast. The Magic have connected on the over a whopping 11 straight times. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies control the pace to such a level that the under has hit in six consecutive games.

Memphis has been playing well over their previous five contests – going 4-1 straight up and ATS. However, Orlando has won just two of their five games but has covered in four of five – including a resounding 20-point blowout of the Houston Rockets on the road. This again presents a challenge as both teams come in with momentum.

Orlando’s epic streak with the over has pushed their record to 20-11 which is the slate’s best for road teams. Memphis is just 14-18 at home in that scenario. The Magic have benefited from some hot shooting along the way and they may be able to control enough of the pace to keep this game very close or win outright. Remember, the last meeting was a resounding 32-point win for Orlando at home in November.

Our pick tonight is taking Orlando with the 2.5 points. Also, that number may move a little bit later in the day so do not be surprised.

<em><strong>Pick: Orlando Magic, +2.5</strong></em>
<h3><strong>Dallas Mavericks (-3) vs San Antonio Spurs</strong>
<strong>O/U: 227.5</strong></h3>
The two teams come in off losses, but Dallas has won six of ten overall while San Antonio has won just four. Dallas thankfully is on the road where they are 21-11 while the Spurs are just 15-14 at home.

A big problem both teams of late is being able to cover. Dallas has not covered in three of their last five games. However, San Antonio has been far worse as they have missed the cover in seven consecutive contests.

Dallas is 2-3 straight up in their previous five games while San Antonio has lost four of five. Again, the overall ATS records are complete opposites. The Spurs are 9-20 at home while the Mavericks are 20-9-2 away from home. Only the Boston Celtics come close to covering that often on this slate ATS.

The Mavericks are also within a few games of Utah and could hop a few teams as the playoffs draw closer. Dallas’ scoring margin is +6.7 points per game on the road while San Antonio rides in with a negative 3.7 point scoring margin per contest.

Again, the Mavericks are giving only 3 points and have covered in seven consecutive road meetings against the San Antonio Spurs.
