The <b>Brooklyn Nets</b> have played the first two games of their Eastern Conference semi-final series against the <b>Milwaukee Bucks</b>, for all intents and purposes, without James Harden.

The perennial All-Star, who functions as their point guard, played 43 seconds of Game 1 and then had to leave due to a hamstring strain. He missed Game 2 and now it's been announced that he will be out on Thursday, which perhaps the Bucks can use to gain some ground in the series, now that it returns to their home floor at 7:30 PM ET.

Following up that 115-107 victory, the Nets blew Milwaukee out of the gym in Game 2, jumping out to a 36-19 first quarter lead and never looking back. The final score was 125-86, and the Bucks had another tough game from long range, going 8 for 27.

That sets the stage for Game 3, where the Bucks are laying some points in the Fiserv Forum:

After two games, there isn't such a big gap in terms of shooting from the field (Nets 49.5%, Bucks 44.3%). But the difference lies in what they have done from beyond the three-point arc. While the Nets have made 44.4%, led by Joe Harris, the league's top sharpshooter, who's gone 8-for-16, Milwaukee is at 24.6%. And they take a lot of triples, making just below 39% for the regular season.

A couple of things stand out in particular. Khris Middleton has taken the most shots for Milwaukee, and he's just 30%. Giannis has gone two of 10 from the free throw line, and that would be a big factor, since the Bucks have had only 18 free throw attempts aside from him.

The story that has come out is that the Nets had the free throw timer on in the first two games (NBA players have to theoretically release the ball within ten seconds of getting it) and that has been a "distraction" for him. But the NBA has ordered that timer "off," which doesn't matter much here with the Bucks at home.

Speaking of free throws, Brooklyn has taken only 16 of them in the first two games. Milwaukee is more of a finesse team, so they're not very physical with the Nets on defense. But they will have to do something about Griffin, who would be part of a "Big Four" if he was at his peak, but has come up big anyway. He hasn't taken a shot from the foul line, but he's got 25 points and 22 rebounds in two games.

He's an interesting focus as we talk about possible player props for this game, because Milwaukee has to do something to control him. Along those lines, I would move a little toward the "Under" in his Points+Rebounds+Assists prop at <b><a href="http://bangthebook.com/s/betonline/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer nofollow noopener">BetOnline</a></b>. As for the game itself, we recognize that the Nets have spent plenty of time playing without Harden this season. Still, their record in those situations -even counting these two playoff games - is 14-9, which is not awe-inspiring. And just four of those wins have come against playoff teams.

NBA Playoff Betting - Nets-Bucks: Harden Sits Again For Game 3 - Does It Matter?

Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona will be full and fight fans around the world will be tuned in for UFC 263. This is a huge card with 14 fights scheduled to take place, including two championship bouts. Collier is 1-1 since the return, as he won over three rounds against Gian Villante in his last fight. Felipe is 2-1 in UFC and all three fights have gone the distance. The 26-year-old Felipe hasn’t been terribly impressive so far, so Collier at +145 might be worth a look.
<h3><strong><u>Luigi Vendramini (+115) vs. Fares Ziam (-135); Total: 2.5 (-110/-120)</u></strong></h3>
The third UFC fight for Luigi Vendramini doesn’t appear to be a good matchup. We’ve seen pretty heavy line movement on the much taller Fares Ziam for this fight at 155 pounds. Vendramini returned from more than two years away to beat Jessin Ayari back in October by first-round knockout. Ziam also returned from a long layoff to beat Jamie Mullarkey back in October.

Ziam has the big size advantage here, which could very well be the biggest reason for the move. Neither guy fought great competition coming up the ranks and neither guy has much of a UFC track record. There are better fights to bet.
<h3><strong><u>Chase Hooper (+100) vs. Steven Peterson (-120); Total: 2.5 (-115/-115)</u></strong></h3>
Steven Peterson hasn’t been in the Octagon since September 21, 2019, so he’ll be shaking off a lot of cage rust for this fight against Chase Hooper. We’ve seen Peterson the preferred betting side here, as he’s now a clear favorite over Hooper, who is 2-1 in his UFC career. Peterson has a lot more data points at the UFC level, but lost three of five fights prior to going AWOL.

Peterson’s knockout of Martin Bravo was pretty random, as he happened to catch Bravo at the right time when he was trying to land a spinning backfist. Hooper has gone deep into the third round in each of his last two fights. The under 2.5 looks like one of the best bets of the prelim card.
<h3><strong><u>Terrance McKinney (+225) vs. Matt Frevola (-265)</u></strong></h3>
This is a late switch to the card, as Frank Camacho was injured in a car accident a few days prior to the fight card. Terrance McKinney will step in on short notice against Matt Frevola. Frevola has gone through a full fight camp, but does now have to pivot to face a different opponent. McKinney lost on the Dana White Contender Series in 2019 to Sean Woodson. The LFA fighter is stepping up in a big way here. Frevola is likely the right side, maybe as an open parlay piece. McKinney just fought last Friday in LFA.
<h3><strong><u>Alexis Davis (+166) vs. Pannie Kianzad (-191); Total: 2.5 (-350/275)</u></strong></h3>
This UFC card is light on women’s fights. We have one here in the bantamweight division between Alexis Davis and Pannie Kianzad. Davis ended a three-fight losing streak with a nice win over Sabino Mazo back on February 27. Kianzad is 3-1 in UFC since losing her debut to Julia Avila.

Six straight fights for Davis have gone the distance and five straight for Kianzad and nine of her last 10. The -350 is heavy on the over 2.5, but this looks like a great open parlay piece.
<h3><strong><u>Hakeem Dawodu (+195) vs. Movsar Evloev (-230); Total: 2.5 (-250/200)</u></strong></h3>
This is a hell of a fight to be buried on the undercard. Hakeem Dawodu is 12-1-1 in his career and rides a five-fight winning streak into this matchup against undefeated Movsar Evloev. Dawodu has won three of his last four fights by split decision, which is a big reason why Evloev is such a large favorite in this fight.

Evloev is coming off of a split decision win of his own against Nik Lentz. He’s 4-0 in the UFC and all four wins have been by decision. In that UFC 257 win over Lentz, Evloev fought Lentz on short notice as an injury replacement and it was his first fight since battling COVID. Statistically, the fight wasn’t that close.

Evloev is a great bet here. The -230 price looks a little bit cheap.
<h3><strong><u>Lauren Murphy (+127) vs. Joanne Calderwood (-147); Total: 2.5 (-350/275)</u></strong></h3>
The other women’s fight features Joanne Calderwood in her 21st career MMA fight against Lauren Murphy in her 19th. A couple of UFC veterans in the flyweight division battle here, as the 35-year-old Calderwood has taken the majority of the bets against the 37-year-old Murphy.

Murphy has won four in a row, including some nice wins over Roxanne Modafferi and Angela Lee. Calderwood has alternated wins and losses in her last four fights. It makes sense that Murphy would have gotten preferential treatment on the opening odds, but the money has hit Calderwood. It’s hard to argue with a move like that from sharper UFC bettors. It’s a tough fight to handicap. Murphy has more paths to victory and has been better lately, so a slight lean her way, but there are other fights to bet.
<h3><strong><u>Darren Stewart (+130) vs. Eryk Anders (-150); Total: 2.5 (-140/110)</u></strong></h3>
Eryk Anders got called for an illegal knee to the head on Darren Stewart when the two fought back on March 13. The rematch is now. Anders was coming off of a loss to Krzysztof Jotko going into that Stewart fight and he is just 3-5 in his last eight UFC fights with that No Contest in the most recent one. Anders was having an excellent first round when he dropped the illegal knee.

Stewart looked poorly prepared for the fight, as he, too, has experienced some recent losses. He beat Maki Pitolo by first-round submission, but also lost to Kevin Holland and Bartosz Fabinski in 2020. Unless something changes with the line, these two guys are both nearly impossible to bet right now.
<h3><strong><u>Brad Riddell (+119) vs. Drew Dober (-139); Total: 2.5 (-160/130)</u></strong></h3>
Brad Riddell is 3-0 in the UFC, but he faces his stiffest test yet in Drew Dober. Riddell has wins over Jamie Mullarkey, Magomed Mustafaev, and Alex Da Silva, all by decision. He had five knockouts on his way to the UFC, but hasn’t been able to win in that manner since joining the promotion.

Each of the last five fights for Dober has ended with a stoppage. He’s been on the winning side in all three knockouts, but has lost twice by submission. His takedown defense is not up to par and he has now lost four times via sub. The problem here for Riddell is that he does not have a great ground game. He has no submission wins to his name. While Riddell may be up to the challenge of a guy like Dober, this is a bad matchup for him. Dober should win and send us into the main card.

<h3><strong><u>Paul Craig (+245) vs. Jamahal Hill (-285); Total: 1.5 (-130/100)</u></strong></h3>
Undefeated Jamahal Hill is a big favorite against Paul Craig as light heavyweight action opens up the main card. Hill should be 9-0, but a positive marijuana test after his win over Klidson Abreu resulted in his win being wiped off the board. He really hasn’t been in trouble in any fight since joining the UFC, but this will be his biggest test to date.

Paul Craig scored a knockout win in the rematch against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua back in November to improve to 14-4-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the UFC. This will be Craig’s first fight against a taller opponent since his submission win against Vinicius Moreira, but Moreira has lost four in a row and may not fight in UFC again. Craig wins on the ground and Hill wins by keeping the fight on his terms. The longer, more athletic Hill seems like a tough matchup for Craig.
<h4><strong>Pick: Jamahal Hill</strong></h4>
<h3><strong><u>Demian Maia (+195) vs. Belal Muhammad (-230); Total: 2.5 (-165/135)</u></strong></h3>
How many more fights does Demian Maia have in him? The 43-year-old will step into the Octagon for the first time since right before the COVID shutdown to take on Belal Muhammad. Maia lost to Gilbert Burns by first-round knockout. He had won his previous three fights, but hadn’t really fought anybody good in the span.

Belal Muhammad could not continue after two eye pokes from Leon Edwards back on March 13. He wanted an Edwards rematch, but gets Maia instead. This has to feel like a step down for Muhammad here. He has to win the fight for future purposes, but you do wonder if maybe this is a fight that doesn’t really get him jazzed up. Maia isn’t as dangerous as he used to be, but I feel like this fight ends up going to the cards.
<h4><strong>Pick: Over 2.5</strong></h4>
<h3><strong><u>Nate Diaz (+400) vs. Leon Edwards (-600); Total: 4.5 (110/-140)</u></strong></h3>
This fight will be slated for five rounds if it goes that far. Instead of the Belal Muhammad rematch, Leon Edwards slots in as a huge favorite against Nate Diaz. This fight honestly isn’t even worth really talking about. Diaz hasn’t fought in a year and a half since he got badly beaten up by Jorge Masvidal. He beat Anthony Pettis at UFC 241, but Pettis isn’t even in the UFC anymore.

Edwards should win, but -600 is a big price. Maybe an open parlay piece or something. Edwards had 5:18 of fight time against Belal Muhammad before the eye pokes ended the fight. That was his first fight in 20 months. This is a waste of a fight.
<h4><strong>Pick: Leon Edwards</strong></h4>
<h3><strong><u>Brandon Moreno (+182) vs. Deiveson Figueiredo (-212); Total: 4.5 (105/-135)</u></strong></h3>
Many bettors are probably wondering why this line is so big given that the last fight between the two ended in a draw. The headline fight at UFC 256 did feature Figueiredo as a -300 favorite, so there has been an adjustment to the line. It was about as even of a fight as you can get. Figueiredo won on one of the three cards, but the fight was a majority draw.

It was maybe the best performance from Moreno that we’ve seen. He exhibited solid takedown defense and had more control in the fight. He threw more strikes, but did land a lower percentage than Figueiredo. It was one of the best fights of the year.

Figueiredo was also in the hospital the day before the fight. He won the title and had two title defenses in 2020, including one just mere weeks before the Moreno fight. Moreno also fought on that same UFC 255 card.

I have to take Figueiredo here with the depressed price and more recovery time. He wasn’t at his best in that first fight, whereas it seemed like Moreno was about as good as he could be.
<h4><strong>Pick: Deiveson Figueiredo</strong></h4>
<h3><strong><u>Marvin Vettori (+224) vs. Israel Adesanya (-264); Total: 4.5 (-130/100)</u></strong></h3>
How will Israel Adesanya respond to his first career loss? The UFC Middleweight Champion tried to become a champion in two divisions when he fought Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259 for the Light Heavyweight Title. He came up short, taking a pretty big beating from Blachowicz over five rounds. The stronger, bigger Blachowicz landed a lot more strikes and Adesanya failed to record a takedown.

Now Adesanya takes on a much smaller fighter and a guy more on his level in Marvin Vettori. Vettori has won five in a row since that split-decision loss to Adesanya. You know he wonders what could have been with where Adesanya’s career has since gone. He’s deserving of a rematch here and the 27-year-old’s ground game could be a huge help.

Adesanya’s takedown defense has to improve from the Blachowicz fight. He also needs to be more assertive and aggressive in the rematch than he was in the first fight. All in all, Adesanya should win, but the +224 price on Vettori is a little bit appealing. It’s a title fight and you want to have a bet. The best play is to sit this one out, but Vettori has a chance here.

With Ben Simmons, it's a different story. The 6-10 point guard was a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year (losing out to Utah's Rudy Gobert), and has had seven steals thus far, with 24 assists. And on those occasions when he's taken shots, he is 16 for 21. But he has really bricked it from the free throw line, going just 7 of 20. Including the previous series against the Washington Wizards, he's shooting just 35.4% from the line in the postseason.

As a result, the Hawks are picking on him, doing him the indignity of fouling him on purpose. Considering that he is a career 61% free throw shooter, he should be doing better. If that happens, it puts Atlanta in a very dangerous position.

Let's keep in mind that the Sixers have been a 55% shooting team in the series, with a robust Offensive Rating of 125.3. If not for a 42-point first quarter by Atlanta in Game 1, the Sixers would have been up 3-0 in the series.

The <b>New York Islanders</b> were flying high in the NHL bubble last year, bringing themselves one step away from an appearance in the Stanley Cup final. But they didn't have enough to get past the <b>Tampa Bay Lightning</b>, who ultimately won the Cup.

Coach Barry Stotz thinks there's a big difference between this year and last, in that when the Isles play at home, they'll extract a lot of energy from a very enthusiastic crowd.

But they won't have the home ice edge as they begin their semi-final series, which starts on Sunday afternoon at 3 PM ET at the Amalie Arena in Tampa. The Lightning compiled 75 points on the season, while the Islanders had 71.  As the division titles were decided, the NHL seeded the teams for the semis, in a process that was determined by points.

Well, to say the least, the Islanders will have to greatly improve upon last year's performance, when they were outscored 20-12 as the Bolts took the series 4-2. One of the people most instrumental for Tampa Bay was Nikita Kucherov, who totaled ten points.

He's going to be a thorn in the side of Trotz once again.

Kucherov, the former MVP, is in the middle of a controversial plot in which the Lightning were able to exploit a loophole in the NHL's rules. Teams with players who are injured have an opportunity to put those players on a long-term injured reserve list where they would not count against the salary cap. This allows the team to reinforce itself with other players.

And the twist is that those injured players don't have to stay on the list, or count against the cap, in the playoffs. So Kucherov, who had hip surgery and sat out the entire season, could be re-activated for playoff action. As a result, Tampa Bay is about $9 million above the salary cap. And after the series victory over Carolina, that brought complaints.

Did the Lightning manipulate things to their advantage? Well, the NHL investigated the matter previously and determined that Kucherov's rehabilitation period was not unnatural.

And anyone who thought he would be rusty was surprised, as he has thus far scored five goals with 13 assists in eleven playoff games.

He is hardly the only thing the Islanders have to worry about. Tampa Bay goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy has been consistently outstanding, leading the league in victories four consecutive seasons. In last year's series against the Islanders, he posted a .933 save percentage, and so far he's at .934 for these playoffs. A winner of five of his last six starts, he's allowed a single goal or less in four of those.

Any way you slice it, this stacks up as a more substantial challenge than the Islanders encountered in the last series against Boston, when they faced a goaltender (Tuukka Rask) who was not at 100% physically.

The Lightning are certainly not invincible; indeed, they were just third in the Central Division, behind Carolina and Florida. But as often happens with teams in the playoffs, they are coming around at the right time, with a hot goalie, lots of depth on offense, and the firepower added with Kucherov.

The Islanders have now reached the semi-finals in consecutive seasons. It's the first time in 37 years that's happened. They have done well for themselves with two road wins in each of their two series thus far. But there was a "Jekyll-Hyde" quality to them overall, as they've been outscored and outshot as the visitor.

So their trip to the Stanley Cup finals may have to wait a little longer. We'll take Tampa Bay in Game 1, but we'll put more emphasis on the <b>UNDER</b>.

If this new O-Line manages to keep their 45-year-old quarterback out of Micah Parsons’ hands, the Buccaneers will have a good chance to do damage here.</p>



<p><strong>Cowboys to rely on defense this year</strong></p>



<p>The Dallas Cowboys do have one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL, but Dak Prescott doesn’t have the privilege to work with star receivers like Brady. CeeDee Lamb will be Prescott’s No. 1 target through the air after the Cowboys traded Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns, while Michael Gallup is still recovering from an ACL injury he suffered last year.</p>



<p>Tight end Dalton Schultz is also a solid option for Dak, but Dallas will try with Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard, who both recorded 1,000+ scrimmage yards last season, to make an impact out of the backfield. The defense will be Dallas’ primary weapon in this one, though. The 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year Micah Parsons, who registered 13 sacks last year, and veteran DeMarcus Lawrence will keep their eye on Brady, while Trevon Diggs (11 interceptions in 2021) is going to attack Brady’s passes to the receivers.</p>
