Before adding Notre Dame to the lineup, the ACC was the easiest conference in football to predict this season—Clemson, by far.

Yes, the Tigers a new offensive line this season. But with how well Dabo Swinney recruits, that shouldn’t be an issue. But with Trevor Lawrence and Travis Ettiene in the backfield, they don’t have to be great—just good enough.

The defense will need a few new guys to step into leadership roles. But with arguably the best defensive coordinator in college football, Brent Venables, in control, the Clemson defense will be just fine.

Miami could be an attractive option with D’Eriq King transferring in from Houston, and a lot of people are high on North Carolina. But while both might be able to give Clemson a good game, they are not going to beat them.

But then Notre Dame had to go and enter the picture. Clemson is still favored, of course, but it is not hard to imagine the Fighting Irish pulling off the upset. Ian Book is an excellent quarterback, and he will have one of the best offensive lines in the country to work behind.

On the defensive side, they lost a few pieces but have enough coming back. With the talent they have on the roster, the unit should be fine.

But can they beat Clemson?

Eh—maybe. It will be a good game when the two meet, one that will likely be decided by one possession. How should you bet? If you want to play it safe, go with Clemson. But put a little down on Notre Dame, too—just in case.

<p>It is unlikely for drivers to achieve two consecutive victories in a season due to the tough competition and the inconsistent nature of the track. Blaney has the opportunity to defy the odds.</p>



<p>Gateway and Charlotte, despite their differences, offer similar setups. A new intermediate package will be implemented, in which Blaney holds the swiftest lap time at Dover. Akin to the Dover circuit, Charlotte's terrain paved the way for Blaney's triumph, and this familiarity with the track could give him an edge.</p>



<p>Although the package remains unchanged for Gateway, the track configuration varies. The update has already led to Joey Logano's victory in the race, with Austin Cindric achieving the sixth-highest driver rating.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Kansas State Wildcats (10-3-0, 9-3-1 ATS) ended the regular season with three wins and reached the Big 12 Championship game where they beat the TCU Horned Frogs in overtime to claim their first conference title since 2012. <strong>Colorado Rockies</strong>

The first step in analyzing the stats above is to isolate the Colorado Rockies. The four other teams are in the top ten in ERA which is a large contributor to the under trend. The Rockies are unique because of the perception of their home field.
Coors Field has always been a batters dream come true. In 2016 and 2017 the Rockies led the league in runs scored at home. In 2015 they were second in the MLB. That has coincided with a bottom two finish in home ERA each of those three years.
In 2018 the Rockies pitching staff is still performing poorly at home (29th in the league). However, the offense is not the same as it has been in previous years. In free agency, the Rockies opted to sign Wade Davis, acquire Bryan Shaw and retain Jake McGee to bolster the bullpen.

It has been well documented on the Bang the Book podcast that the Rockies offense has been unimpressive. It is a very top heavy lineup anchored by Nolan Arenado and Charlie Blackmon. Games at Coors Field are going under 65.2 percent of the time. When the Rockies are on the road the under is cashing for bettors 57.1 percent of the time.

Examining the Rockies ERA to xfip discrepancy shows the Rockies pitching staff could pitch even better for the rest of the season. Xfip factors fly balls to a league average homerun ratio so playing at Coors field lessens the validity of the xfip discrepancy because flyballs will always convert to homeruns at a higher rate. However, with a young pitching staff I expect the runs allowed to decrease for the Rockies.

On the offensive side there is not a lot of room for growth. They just lost a commonly used clean-up hitter in OF David Dahl, who is out with a broken foot. The Rockies do get Utility player DJ LeMahieu back, but with Ian Desmond hitting well below league average this offense will still lack significant punch. I will be playing a majority of the Rockies games under the team total until the market adjusts or the Rockies offense shows improvement.

<strong>Houston Astros and Washington Nationals</strong>

Plain and simple the Astros and Nationals have two of the best pitching staffs in the MLB. There is no debate about this. The Houston Astros rotation was not expected to be this devastating, but their ability to prevent runs is the sole contributor to the run total under trend. I expect the market to adjust, but public bettors love playing overs and with an exciting lineup I find it hard to believe that money will stop flowing in for Astros games.

With some of the Astros pitching out of their minds it is possible this trend is less profitable over the rest of the season. With the Astros already leading the league in runs scored, the pitching staff is the main variable to keep an eye on. Until the regression hits, I will be looking to play unders for games with the Astros involved.

The Washington Nationals are a team I will be looking to take the over in very soon. The starting rotation is unbailable, but they have a lot of offensive weapons who should be returning soon. 2B Daniel Murphy should be returning next week, and 3B Ryan Zimmerman and OF Adam Eaton are nearing their rehab assignments.

If you add the returning stars with the incredibly unlucky .276 Batting Average on Balls in Play (BABIP), there is a strong possibility we see an over trend from the Nationals for the rest of the season.

<strong>Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals</strong>

There is not too much to break down with these teams. With regression signs in the ERA and xFip discrepancy there could be more runs allowed from both pitching staffs. Both teams also rank in the bottom half in BABIP so I also expect them to score more runs than they have. I will be staying away from both of these teams in terms of having a lean to a run total side based on the data.

To recap, I will be continuing to play Colorado and Houston unders. As for the Nationals there could be some great late season over run total value. The Brewers and Cardinals are teams to keep an eye on. Injuries or player development could contribute to creating value on either side, but for now I do not have a lean.

They connected on 8 of 24 threes (33.3%) and were nearly perfect from the line, hitting 19 of 20 free throws (95%).</p> <p>Jay Alvarez led the way with 23 points, while Masiah Gilyard and Shaquil Bender each added 18, with Bender hitting 4 threes at a 50% clip. Wesley Robinson also contributed 17 points, shooting 66.7% from deep, and Zion Cruz dished out 7 assists.</p><p>Rider's defense gave up 80 points in their last game, with opponents shooting 41% from the field, hitting 26 of 62 shots. Paul McMillan IV added 21 points, while Griffin Barrouk contributed 19 points, hitting 5 of 10 from beyond the arc.</p><p>Canisius struggled defensively, giving up 99 points on 53% shooting. They allowed 37 field goals on 69 attempts.</p> <p>Inside the arc, the Golden Griffins allowed 65% shooting, with 27 two-point baskets. Denver started strong, giving up just 19 points in the 1st quarter, but allowed 31 in the 2nd. They tightened up in the 3rd and 4th, allowing 27 and 26 points, respectively.</p> <p>From beyond the arc, the Nuggets limited the Clippers to 11 threes on 28% shooting. TPC Craig Ranch, a popular stop for the Korn Ferry Tour, will host its first PGA Tour event and the first of five for the AT&amp;T Byron Nelson. It is a par 72 that checks in just shy of 7,500 yards.

Trinity Forest was flat and wide open. TPC Craig Ranch will not be. It will be narrower in that regard and should provide a good test for the players. Water is in play a lot as Rowlett Creek winds in and around the course. We’ll have bentgrass greens for this one and the players will hit from Zoysia fairways, which is very different from usual. Tom Weiskopf helped design the course.

Tournament officials have gotten approved for 25% capacity on the course, so the roars of the crowd will be heard once again.
<h3><strong><u>Yay or Neigh?</u></strong></h3>
As far as looking for a horse for course, you won’t find one because there has not been a PGA Tour event here. The Web.com finals in 2012 were held on this course. James Hahn finished second at 14-under. Adam Hadwin was third at 13-under. Russell Henley was sixth at 11-under. Luke List tied for 13th. The course played as a par 71 that year.

This course is also part of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Q School, so some of the more recent graduates have probably played the course and are now part of the PGA Tour. Otherwise, we don’t really know much about the course and who will play well here.

Berger hasn’t played in a month, but has three top-20 finishes in his last four events. Fitzpatrick was fourth at the RBC Heritage after The Masters in his most recent event. Scheffler has a couple top-10 finishes over his last five events.

Zalatoris missed the cut last week in North Carolina, where he played his college golf. He’s had a couple lackluster showings since his runner-up at The Masters.

Let’s talk about some guys that have played well. Sam Burns won his first event at the Valspar Championship and was fourth the week prior when Marc Leishman won the Zurich Classic with teammate Cameron Smith. John Catlin has been playing well on the European Tour with a win and another top-five finish in his last three starts.

Keith Mitchell was third last week at the Wells Fargo and fourth two weeks prior. Charl Schwartzel has three straight top-25 finishes. Peter Uihlein has a win and two other top-10 finishes from his recent play on the European Tour.

Here’s a nugget for you. Sung Kang, the reigning champ of the AT&amp;T Byron Nelson, is actually a member at TPC Craig Ranch, so he knows the course well.
<h3><strong><u>AT&amp;T Byron Nelson Handicap &amp; Picks</u></strong></h3>
This is a big ol’ crapshoot this week, but we can put together a player profile based on what we do know about the course. It’s a pretty long course with some long par 4s. It looks like SG: OTT will be important. We can always default to SG: Approach being important. The bentgrass greens aren’t a huge problem, so we’ll look for ball-strikers and hope they roll it well.

A price I simply cannot ignore is <strong>Sung Kang</strong> at +35000. He’s not in any kind of recent form, but he’s played well in Texas and is a member here. That has to account for something at a balloon 350/1 number.

As far as more realistic prices, <strong>Matthew Fitzpatrick</strong> at +2000 tops the list. He’s 10th in SG: Total and in the top 20 in SG: Off-the-Tee. His iron play has been a little iffy, but he’s put extremely well and still ranks 28th in SG: Tee-to-Green.

Another player to look at this week is native Texan <strong>Ryan Palmer</strong> at +5000. Palmer should have some knowledge of the course and he’s actually top 40 in SG: OTT and SG: Total. He’s in the top 50 in SG: Approach and has been comfortably on the plus side in putting.

Take some chances this week with a new course. A favorite could very well win, especially one like DeChambeau, who can cut down on the length of this course, but there are some long shots that do look compelling to be sure.
