Patriots beat the Jets thanks to a late punt return



The New England Patriots (6-4-0, 6-3-1 ATS) recorded their third consecutive win and displayed one of the best defensive performances of the season in a 10-3 victory over the New York Jets at home. They kept the Jets to just 103 yards and six first downs and had 297 yards and 13 first downs on the other end. The game was headed to overtime when Marcus Jones returned a punt for an 84-yard touchdown with just five seconds to go.



Mac Jones completed 23 of 27 passes for 246 yards. Rhamondre Stevenson and Jakobi Meyers combined for 108 receiving yards on ten catches, while Damien Harris had a game-high 65 rushing yards on eight carries. On defense, Matthew Judon recorded 1.5 sacks, while Ja'Whaun Bentley led all the defenders with nine tackles.



QB Brian Hoyer (concussion) and C David Andrews (thigh) are out indefinitely. T Isaiah Wynn (foot) and P Jake Bailey (back) are questionable to take on Minnesota this Thursday.



Vikings suffered a disaster against Dallas at home



The Minnesota Vikings (8-2-0, 4-5-1 ATS) were on a seven-game winning run but their positive streak snapped with a disastrous 40-3 home defeat to the Dallas Cowboys. Minnesota suffered its largest margin of defeat since November 2014 when they lost 45-7 to the Green Bay Packers. The Cowboys completely dominated total yards (458-183), first downs (23-16), and possessions (37:24-22:36).



Kirk Cousins completed 12 of 23 passes for 15 yards. His deputy Nick Mullens completed five of seven passes for 54 yards. Dalvin Cook was the only Viking in a right offensive mood as he finished the tilt with 72 rushing yards on 11 carries. T.J. Hockenson led the team in receiving yards with 34 on five receptions. Defensively, Andrew Booth Jr. had a game-high nine tackles.



T Christian Darrisaw was lifted from the last contest with a concussion, and he will not take on the Patriots in Week 12. TE Irv Smith Jr. (ankle) is also out, while DT Dalvin Tomlinson (knee) is questionable to play.

It’s not going to be easy against the second-best defense in the NFL, but I am backing the Vikings to respond to a devastating loss against Dallas and secure a win here. Cousins, Justin Jefferson, and Adam Thielen will bounce back after scoring a season-low three points, and even though the Patriots allowed just three points to the Colts and Jets, they will not be that lucky on TNF. Minnesota has a lot more potent offense than both the Colts and Jets, while the hosts’ offense is more efficient than New England’s as well. It will be a tight encounter, but I am sure the Vikings can return to winning ways.

The Total



Minnesota has the second-worst pass defense in the league that is allowing 267.3 yards per game, but luckily for the Vikings, New England’s pass offense is not working very well this year. On the other hand, the Pats have a top 5 pass defense, so the Vikings, who prefer passing over running, could have problems here. Under is 5-1 in the last six H2H meetings, while Under is 14-3 in the Patriots’ previous 17 games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game.
