Both Miami and Boston upset the odds in the semis, showing some impressive displays, especially the Heat. They meet each other in the playoffs for the first time since 2012 when the Heat beat the Celtics in the conference finals in seven games.

Hereof, we have prepared all need-to-know betting tips and trends for the 2020 Eastern Conference Finals between Miami and Boston along with the latest odds update and our betting predictions.
<h3><strong>Injuries/Suspensions</strong></h3>
The Heat are coming in full strength, while the Celtics have some problems. Gordon Hayward is still recovering from an ankle injury, and the Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said that the 30-year-forward should return at some point the conference finals.

Hayward will certainly miss the opener Tuesday, and we’ll call him questionable for Game 2.

The Heat are searching for their first NBA Finals since 2014 when they were beaten by Tim Duncan and the Spurs in five games. On the other side, the Celtics haven’t been in the NBA Finals since 2010 and a loss to the Lakers in seven games.

<h3><strong>The Spot</strong></h3>
Miami is 8-1 SU and ATS on the postseason. The Heat swept the Pacers in the first round and stunned the top-seeded Bucks in the second round, so their confidence must be sky-high.

Boston swept the 76ers in the first round, but the Celtics had to play seven games against the Toronto Raptors in the semifinals, so they could struggle with fatigue. The Celtics eliminated the reigning champs playing without Gordon Hayward, and there will be some tired legs, for sure.
<h3><strong>The Matchup</strong></h3>
The Celtics went small against Toronto, as Marcus Smart replaced Hayward in the starting lineup, joining Kemba Walker in the backcourt. The Heat love to play small-ball, too, with Jae Crowder at four, while Duncan Robinson and Jimmy Butler both can help on the low post.

This should be a proper defensive battle between two teams that match each other very well. They both like to play at a slower pace, averaging just over 96 possessions per 48 minutes.

The Celtics have the best defensive ratings this postseason, allowing just 102.0 points per 100 possessions, while the Heat are fourth with 106.3 points allowed per 100 possessions. Boston leads the way in the opponent field goal percentage (40.5%) and 3-point percentage (30.5%). Miami is sixth in opponent FG% (44.5%) and fifth in opponent 3P% (34.8%).

On the other side of the ball, the Heat are tallying 114.9 points per 100 possessions on 46.1% shooting from the field and 38.0% from beyond the arc. The Celtics are scoring 109.8 points per 100 possessions on 45.0% shooting from the field and 34.1% from downtown.

The defense will be a key factor, no doubt, but whoever wants to win the series will have to find a way to execute offensively. Jimmy Butler and Jayson Tatum will guard each other for most of the time, but, as I’ve said, both teams possess excellent defensive awareness and are capable of switching everything.

The Celtics need to slow down Goran Dragic, as the 34-year-old Slovenian is averaging 21.1 points and 4.7 assists this postseason. Duncan Robinson is a lethal 3-point shooter and could an X-factor for the Heat in this matchup, while the Celtics hope to see more from centers, Daniel Theis and Robert Williams.
<h3><strong>The Bets</strong></h3>
Boston is 13-4 straight up in its last 17 games against Miami, but the Heat are 8-4 ATS in their previous 12 encounters with the Celtics. When it comes to the postseason, the Heat are 8-4 SU and 7-5 ATS in their last 12 playoff matchups with the Celtics.

The under has hit in five of the last six encounters between Boston and Miami, and I suggest you keep it in mind when betting through the series. As I’ve mentioned, these are the best two defensive teams in the Eastern Conference over the last few four weeks.

I would dare to predict the winner, but this clash could easily go either way. Betting on exactly seven games at +200 perfectly makes sense, and I expect to see a nail-biting series. Both teams are led by great tacticians, but Erik Spoelstra has a couple of championships under his belt, so I’m taking the Heat.

<b>The Spot</b>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">After a 102-96 defeat in Game 4, the Heat cannot afford another loss and will be under huge pressure in Game 5. At least, they had a couple of days to rest and prepare, but the Lakers are undoubtedly a more experienced team than the Heat. </span>

<b>The Matchup</b>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Miami outlasted LA 115-104 in Game 3 thanks to Jimmy Butler’s triple-double, while the team played excellent defense and executed very well on the offensive end. The Heat shut down Anthony Davis who finished the game with just 15 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the field. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">However, the Heat couldn’t replicate that performance in Game 4. Davis had 22 points on 8-for-16 from the field; LeBron James posted 28 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists, while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was an X-factor with 15 points and five dimes including a huge triple down the stretch. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Both teams shot below 45.0% from the field and committed 15 turnovers each, but the Lakers handed out seven assists more than their opponents (25-18). Los Angeles posted three rebounds more than Miami (42-39), and the Heat can be satisfied with their job on the glass. The Lakers combined for 27 offensive rebounds in Games 2 and 3. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Bam Adebayo returned to the floor in Game 4 and accounted for 15 points and seven rebounds. Jimmy Butler had 22 points, 10 boards, and nine assists, while Tyler Herro added 21 points. However, the Heat struggled offensively down the stretch and blew a nice opportunity to tie the series. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The previous contest was the tightest one in this series, and I expect to see more of the same in Game 5 on Friday night. The Heat are a hard-working team and will never give up, so they should be able to keep it close once more. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Still, I’m looking for the Lakers to finish the job. They’ve learned a valuable lesson in Game 3, so I’m backing the Lakers to win and cover a 4.5-point spread at -170 odds. If you fancy Miami’s chances, I suggest you buy a few points as well. </span>

While it is true that Spencer Rattler has had a year to indoctrinate himself into the scheme itself (being a redshirt frosh), it's really not the same.

Sam Ehlinger has found himself in that position of highly-touted freshman quarterback. And while he is one of those guys who is known as a "dual threat," he can throw the ball around the ballyard.

It's probably safe to say that losses exert more pressure on the Texas coach than the Oklahoma coach, so Tom Herman has no doubt had to encounter a lot of questions on talk radio shows throughout the Lone Star State, after his team's loss to TCU. And remember, that came on the heels of a nail-biter in which they were lucky to snare an overtime victory over Texas Tech.

Ehlinger can do more, and Rattler (with four picks last two games) is a more likely candidate to get, er, "rattled." In these meetings that have taken place at the Cotton Bowl during the regular season, the Longhorns have covered six straight, and if you have followed Herman's coaching career, you'll notice that he is a profitable underdog (covering 16 of last 20 in that role). We will gladly take the points with <strong>TEXAS</strong>.

The last time Texas Tech beat Iowa State, they had a guy named Patrick Mahomes playing quarterback. It also bears mentioning that Iowa State got some revenge over Mahomes to the tune of 66-10 the next season.

There is a mental toughness to ISU that can't be denied, and we are going to see that tested this week, after back-to-back, tooth-and-nail wins over TCU and Oklahoma, which followed the unexpected defeat at the hands of underrated Louisiana-Lafayette.

It was important that coach Matt Wells has one of his ex-players from Utah State (Henry Colombi) as a backup quarterback, because we are not certain about whether Alex Bowman (removed from last week's game with leg injury) will play, or how much he will if he does.

Brock Purdy threw for 378 yards in last year's meeting. We think the Cyclones can win, but this one could shape up to be an interesting shootout, and we have to ask if the "letdown" syndrome will creep in at Ames. We'll take points with <strong>TEXAS TECH</strong>.

Merrimack College Warriors vs Quinnipiac Bobcats NCAA Basketball Betting Pick & Prediction 1/16/25

When UFC on ESPN+ 38 starts at Fight Island, we will be one week away from the massive matchup between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. Fortunately, Dana White and the UFC matchmakers have given us a really good set of appetizers in advance of the main course.

UFC Fight Night 180 features a main event of Brian Ortega vs. Korean Zombie as the highlight match of this 12-fight card on Saturday October 17. We’ve had some hit and miss cards during the period without fans in both Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi, but this is not one of them.

Some talented newcomers, some proven UFC vets, and probably the best main event we’ve had outside of a pay-per-view card should make for a good evening on Saturday.

We’ll break down the card with odds from <a href="http://bangthebook.com/sportsbooks/betonline"><strong>BetOnline Sportsbook</strong></a> and pay a little more attention to the main card matches. The entire card can be seen on ESPN+.

Before we get Khabib Nurmagomedov next week, we get <strong>Said Nurmagomedov</strong> on this card at -410 for his match against <strong>Mark Striegl</strong>. This is the UFC debut for Striegl, who is making his UFC debut after posting an 18-2 record across multiple promotions. Fourteen of his wins have come via submission. Nurmagomedov lost last time out against Raoni Barcelos to fall to 2-1 in the UFC. Said’s a decision machine, as only six of his 13 wins have come via stoppage. He’s 7-2 in decisions and the total here is 2.5 juiced to -240 on the over. There really isn’t much worth playing in the opener.

<strong>Gadzhimurad Antigulov </strong>is +290 in this light heavyweight matchup against <strong>Maxim Grishin</strong>. Grishin is -355 with a total of 1.5 and -135 on the under, so Grishin by stoppage looks like the most likely outcome here. He lost his UFC debut to Marcin Tybura, but he took that fight as a heavyweight on short notice at UFC 251, so that probably isn’t the best barometer. The 36-year-old is 30-8-2 in his career and takes on a guy in Antigulov that has dropped three straight in the UFC, all by first-round stoppage. Once again, though, I don’t think that there are great betting opportunities in this fight.

<strong>Jamie Mullarkey</strong> is a -141 favorite at 155 pounds against <strong>Fares Ziam</strong>. Ziam was not impressive at all in his UFC debut fight against Don Madge back in September 2019, but it did represent a big step up in class for the 23-year-old. Mullarkey also lost his UFC debut a month later. Neither one of these guys has much experience at the top levels, but they are on more equal footing against each other. Ziam’s lack of activity in the first fight is counting against him here based on the line and Mullarkey just looks to be the more active fighter with more paths to victory.

Middleweight <strong>John Phillips</strong> was a lamb led to slaughter last time out. The 35-year-old Welshman was picked to fight Khamzat Chimaev. He was lucky to get into the second round. He’ll face <strong>Jun Yong Park</strong> this time, but it doesn’t look like it will be much more fun for him. Park is the -255 favorite here, as Phillips has lost four of five, save for what seems like an accidental outlier with a win 17 seconds into his fight with Alen Amedovski. Park is 1-1 in the UFC, but the 29-year-old seems to have a much higher ceiling now that Phillips seems to be well into the twilight of his career. The line is heavy at -255, but probably justified and supported with a Park win.

There are two women’s fights on the card and this is the first one, as <strong>Gillian Robertson </strong>is -220 against <strong>Poliana Botelho</strong>. Robertson bounced back very nicely from a loss to Maycee Barber with a solid submission win against Cortney Casey. Robertson showed some chin and a lot of technique in that fight and the 25-year-old has been rewarded with a big favorite price here. This is a striker vs. grappler sort of fight, as Botelho has six career knockouts in eight wins and Robertson has six subs in her eight wins. Botelho is fighting for the first time in 18 months here and Robertson has the higher ceiling. A Robertson/Park parlay wouldn’t be a bad approach.

A couple of UFC debutants meet here as undefeated <strong>Mateusz Gamrot</strong> is a -290 favorite against <strong>Guram Kutateladze</strong>. The Polish Gamrot is 17-0 and just got done winning back his KSW lightweight title in the sixth title fight of his career. He draws a tough competitor here in Kutateladze, who has won eight fights in a row across different promotions, including a couple stops in Brave CF. Gamrot is an American Top Team fighter, so we should expect better training and a stronger pedigree, which is what the -290 line also implies. KSW is also one of the stronger European promotions. The price is probably justified here, but we don’t really know much about these two fighters.

<h4><strong>Jonathan Martinez (+110) vs. Thomas Almeida (-130); Total: 2.5 (115/-145)</strong></h4>
Thomas Almeida has not been in the Octagon since January 20, 2018, but he is still getting lots of respect for this fight against Jonathan Martinez. The 29-year-old Almeida was set to face Alejandro Perez in his return from major eye surgery and other injuries, but Perez tested positive for COVID-19, so Martinez slots in. It will be interesting to see how Almeida responds to any pressure, pain, or vision concerns with that surgically-repaired eye. It was an injury that kept him out a lot time.

Martinez beat a big name in Frankie Saenz last time out, but Saenz isn’t nearly the fighter that he once was. It was still a good bounce back win for Martinez, who lost via controversial split decision to Andre Ewell at UFC 247. Had things gone slightly different for Martinez, we’d be looking at a four-fight winning streak. Because we’re not, this price might be a little bit off. Almeida was a decent prospect getting big fights at the time of his absence, but he’s long removed from that. Maybe he’ll be sharp, but Martinez projects to be sharper with two fights in 2020 already.
<h4><strong>Pick: Jonathan Martinez</strong></h4>
<h4><strong>Claudio Silva (+142) vs. James Krause (-162); Total: 2.5 (-140/110)</strong></h4>
What do we make of Claudio Silva? He brings a 14-1 record into this fight, but will be fighting for the first time in 14 months. Three straight submission wins for Silva followed a 3.5-year layoff from November 2014 to May 2018. It looked like the 38-year-old never missed a beat. He’s 38 with a long list of injuries, which likely explains the big line here for James Krause. The 34-year-old lost to Trevin Giles at UFC 247, but had won four straight prior to that.

The question here for Krause is whether or not Giles’s speed is what negatively impacted him or if it was something else. Krause beat an aging Sergio Moraes last November in his first fight after 14 months off of his own. Silva won’t have the same speed and athleticism as Giles, but he does seem to be a better version of some of the veterans that Krause has matched up against. To me, the underdog carries more value here with that +142 price tag than Krause in the -160s.
<h4><strong>Pick: Claudio Silva</strong></h4>
<h4><strong>Modestas Bukauskas (+270) vs. Jimmy Crute (-320); Total: 1.5 (-110/-120)</strong></h4>
It was a nice debut win for Modestas Bukauskas on July 15 to score a first-round knockout right at the end of the first round over Andreas Michailidis. It had been a pretty even fight up until that point, but Bukauskas landed the big shot nd came away with the win. It looked like Michailidis had the upper hand if the fight went longer.

As such, Jimmy Crute is over a $3 favorite in this fight. Crute lost his perfect record when Misha Cirkunov forced him to tap out in September 2019. He scored a nice win over Michal Oleksiejczuk in his next fight. Crute is a pretty highly-touted prospect for the UFC right now. He’s already made four appearances since the start of December 2018 and is a light heavyweight that has a chance to move up the ranks. He’s getting a fighter here in Bukauskas that could very well have lost his debut if the fight had gone longer. It has to be Crute here as a money line parlay piece.
<h4><strong>Pick: Jimmy Crute</strong></h4>
<h4><strong>Katlyn Chookagian (+131) vs. Jessica Andrade (-151); Total: 2.5 (-245/195)</strong></h4>
Is a title shot in the works for the winner of Katlyn Chookagian and Jessica Andrade? Chookagian beat the other Shevchenko, Antonina, with a really impressive 15-minute barrage last time out on May 30. It was a good follow-up to getting beaten up by Valentina in the title fight at UFC 247.

This will be a flyweight return for Andrade, who has been fighting as a strawweight since the middle of 2016. The 29-year-old must be an easier path in this division or simply prefers the weight at 115 pounds. I’m not sure how this will go for her. Changes in weight class are tough. It would be best to see how Andrade looks at the weigh-in and also to see if she even makes the week. The 31-year-old Chookagian returned to flyweight in January 2018 and has gone 5-2. Andrade is the better fighter, as the price indicates, but the weight change is the question here. Assuming she looks the part, she should win, but it’s a pricy assumption at -151.
<h4><strong>Pick: Jessica Andrade</strong></h4>
<h4><strong>Brian Ortega (+170) vs. Chan Sung Jung (-195); Total: 2.5 (-110/-120)</strong></h4>
This is a fight worthy of a pay-per-view card. Brian Ortega will return after 22 months to take on Chan Sung Jung in a fight that is expected to result in a featherweight title shot for the winner. Ortega has not fought since he got beaten up badly by Max Holloway at UFC 231. In that span, Ortega has changed fight camps and had a lot of time to stew about his first career loss.

Ortega will be in Abu Dhabi without coach Rener Gracie, who tested positive for COVID-19. We’ll see if that impacts Ortega, who was supposed to face the Korean Zombie last December, but a knee injury kept him from competing.

Instead, Chan Sung Jung fought Frankie Edgar and scored an easy first-round win. This is a big opportunity for the Korean Zombie, who has three first-round knockouts in his last four fights. It would have been an interesting decision for the judges in the other fight, but Yair Rodriguez knocked him out with one second left in the fight.

This is a hard fight to handicap. Ortega was a prospect with a ton of helium before the loss to Holloway. Should we take all of that away because of the defeat? On the other hand, Korean Zombie has been among the top fighters in this division his entire career, including a past title shot against prime Jose Aldo. To me, the value is on Ortega at the big number, but Korean Zombie probably wins the fight.

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The 2020 NBA Playoffs Western Conference Finals starts Friday, September 18, as the third-seeded Denver Nuggets take on the top-seeded Los Angeles Lakers. These two foes meet each other in the postseason for the first time since 2012 when the Lakers eliminated the Nuggets in int eh first round in seven games.   </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Also, this is a rematch of the 2009 Western Conference Finals. That time, the Lakers needed six games to beat the Nuggets with Carmelo Anthony onwards. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The upcoming series brings plenty of excitement, no doubt, as the Nuggets showed us in the previous two rounds that they never give up. We have prepared all need-to-know betting tips and trends for the 2020 Western Conference Finals between the Nuggets and Lakers, so let’s take a closer look. </span>

<b>Injuries/Suspensions</b>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Denver is without Will Barton (knee), while the Lakers miss Dion Waiters (groin). Barton shouldn’t return to the court in 2020, but Waiters could be available at some point during the conference finals. </span>

<b>The Line</b>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Los Angeles opened as a massive -600 favorites to win the conference title on </span><a href="http://bangthebook.com/sportsbooks/bovada/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Bovada Sportsbook</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, while the Nuggets are listed as a +450 out-of-towner to reach the 2020 NBA Finals. The bookies expect the Lakers to have an easy job, setting the lowest odds on exactly five games in this series (+200).   </span>

<b>What's at Stake?</b>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Lakers are searching for their first NBA Finals appearance since 2010 when they beat the Celtics to win the championship. On the other side, the Nuggets hope to make it to the championship series for the first time in franchise history. </span>

<b>The Spot</b>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Denver was down 3-1 in each of its previous two series against the Jazz and Clippers. The Nuggets became the first team in NBA history to overcome a 3-1 deficit twice in the postseason. That’s a massive boost for their confidence, but the Nuggets could struggle with fatigue, too. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Lakers needed five games to eliminate their rivals in each of the previous two rounds. Interestingly, they lost the opener on both occasions. However, the Lakers looked sharp and had no problems to beat the Trail Blazers and Rockets. </span>

<b>The Matchup</b>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Nuggets lean on a dynamic duo Nikola Jokic – Jamal Murray and these two guys will have to continue with a strong performance if they want to pull off a huge upset in the conference finals. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Jokic taught the Clippers some basketball in Game 7, posting a monster triple-double of 16 points, 22 rebounds, and 13 assists, while Murray added 40 points on 15-for-26 shooting from the field. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Nuggets managed to overcome a double-digit deficit in each of their previous three outings, but they cannot afford a similar situation against LeBron James and the Lakers. LeBron is a true floor general for this LA team that plays smart, and the Lakers will know how to take advantage of any chance they get. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Anthony Davis will be a key guy for the Lakers, as he has to play terrific defense on Jokic, while The Brow should be unstoppable on the offensive end. Jokic is arguably one of the worst defenders at five, but the Nuggets play good team defense and will double team Davis a lot. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Nuggets will look to take advantage of the Lakers’ second unit, but I think both teams have enough role players who can step up and put on a solid performance. Denver will certainly try to slow down the tempo, as the Nuggets average only 93.0 possessions per 48 minutes, while the Lakers tally 99.2 possessions per 48 minutes. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Lakers allow just 105.2 points per game this postseason, limiting their rivals to 43.2% shooting from the field. The Nuggets surrender 108.3 points per contest on 46.8% shooting from the field. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">LeBron and his teammates execute well offensively, scoring 114.1 points per game on an excellent 49.6% shooting from the field. Denver averages 106.8 points per game while making 46.5% of its field goals. </span>

<b>The Bets</b>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Although I admire Nikola Jokic, he will have a mountain to climb against the Lakers’ defense. Anthony Davis is a tremendous two-way player, while the Lakers also count on Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Nuggets might pull off a couple of upsets here, but I think the Lakers are a better team, while they certainly have way more experience than the Nuggets. Anthony Davis will dominate the Nuggets on both sides of the floor, so the Lakers shouldn’t have too many problems to reach the 2020 NBA Finals. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The odds are not tempting at all, so I would take the Lakers to win in five games at +225 odds. </span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Lakers beat the Nuggets in the bubble 124-121 and are 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS against Denver this season. The over is 13-5-2 in the previous 20 matchups between these two teams, but I don’t expect to see a high-scoring series this time and will look to take the under on a few occasions. </span>

Pittsburgh Panthers vs North Carolina Tar Heels Betting Pick & Prediction 10/5/24

The fact that Kevin Harvick won the Big Machine Hand Sanitizer 400 was not a surprise to anybody. The fact that Matt Kenseth nearly stole a playoff spot with a win most definitely was.

It seems unlikely that we’ll get any surprises on the 1.5-mile track in Sparta, Kentucky for the Quaker State 400, but you never know. Once again, fans will not be on hand this week. With no fans, the race switched from being a Saturday night race on July 11 to a Sunday afternoon race on July 12 at 2:30 p.m. ET.

This is a relatively new race for the Cup Series that started back in 2011. It will be the 17th race of the 2020 Cup Series season and we’ll break it all down for you with odds from <a href="http://bangthebook.com/sportsbooks/5dimes"><strong>5Dimes Sportsbook</strong></a>, some track stats, and our picks for the winner and some matchups.

The board is so plug-and-play for NASCAR right now that it isn’t even funny. Make Kevin Harvick the favorite, which he is at +375. Make Kyle Busch the second favorite, despite not having won a race yet this season. Make Denny Hamlin the third favorite, with a price slightly higher than those of Brad Keselowski, Martin Truex Jr., and Chase Elliott. Put Penske teammates Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney next. Then a big gap to Clint Bowyer and Kurt Busch.

There isn’t much creativity with NASCAR odds these days. At all. But, that happens when eight drivers have combined for 16 wins and Harvick, Hamlin, and Keselowski have combined for nine of them.
<h3><strong><u>Kentucky</u></strong><strong><u> Speedway</u></strong></h3>
The 1.5-mile tri-oval in Sparta, KY is not far from I-71 nor is it far from Belterra up in southern Indiana, so this is traditionally an easy spot for fans to get to, however fans will not be in attendance this season. Turns 1 and 2 check in at 17 degrees and Turns 3 and 4 check in at 14 degrees.

As a general rule, this is a pretty clean race. The 2016 race, which was the third of Keselowski’s wins at this track, was run on a recently-paved track and featured slippery corners and 11 cautions. NASCAR officials were also using a different rules package. For comparison purposes, there have been 11 cautions over the last two races. There were nine in 2017.

The 2018 race was the fastest in track history at 2:39:43 with just four cautions.
<h3><strong><u>A Quick Stack</u></strong></h3>
Real quickly, here are the standings after 16 races. Kevin Harvick leads with 637 points and has four wins. Chase Elliott only has one win, but sits second with 552 points and leads all drivers in stage points with 166. Brad Keselowski is only three points behind Elliott, despite only having 92 stage points. Ryan Blaney and Denny Hamlin round out the top five with 534 and 528 points, respectively.

Joey Logano is sixth, just one point behind Hamlin. Martin Truex Jr. is 26 points behind Logano in seventh. Alex Bowman, Aric Almirola, and Kyle Busch round out the top 10 with 471, 465, and 461 points, respectively.

Kurt Busch, Matt DiBenedetto, Clint Bowyer, William Byron, Jimmie Johnson, (update: who is officially cleared to race this weekend), and Austin Dillon would be in if the playoffs started today as the rest of the top 16. Erik Jones is six points behind Dillon and Tyler Reddick is 10 points behind Jones.
<h3><strong><u>My Old Kentucky Home</u></strong></h3>
There has not been a whole lot of parity at this event. Brad Keselowski has three of the six wins and has led 524 laps in his nine races. Keselowski’s wins came in 2012, 2014, and 2016. He did not follow the pattern in 2018. Instead that went to Martin Truex Jr., who won in 2017 and 2018. Truex has led 373 of the 2,411 laps that he has been out there for.

This track, though, belongs to Kyle Busch. He’s led 621 of 2,412 laps and has an average finish in the top five at 4.7. He’s been the winner twice, has finished in the top five in seven of nine races, and in the top 10 in eight of nine races.

Keselowski has four top-five finishes with those three wins, but Denny Hamlin also has four top-five finishes. He has not won the race and has only led 81 laps in his nine tries at Kentucky.

Joey Logano has a couple of top-five finishes and six top-10 finishes in his nine races. A few longer-shot names this week include Ryan Newman, who has three career top-five finishes here, and Matt Kenseth, who has a win, three top fives, and six top 10s in his nine races. His average finish of 8.4 is actually the second-best of anybody with at least six races. As a random side note, Jeff Gordon never led a lap here, but still has the second-highest average finish among drivers with at least five starts at Kentucky.
<h3><strong><u>Picking a Favorite</u></strong></h3>
This is a real challenge this week because all signs point to Kyle Busch getting off the schneid, but something has gone wrong virtually every week for him. Can you ever remember a season in which Busch sat 10th in points this late into the game? He’s finished second three times, third once, fourth twice, and fifth once, but he hasn’t even led the most laps in a race yet. This track is his and Toyota has five of the nine wins, but something goes wrong week in and week out. Do you have enough confidence to fire at +500?

Harvick deserves to be the favorite, given that he has been so good just about everywhere, but he only has one top-five finish in nine races here. The +375 price isn’t nearly good enough with his track history, even if his current form is quite good.

Keselowski has the three wins and only Kyle Busch has more career earnings at this track. The +770 price isn’t bad at all, but Keselowski has had to get lucky a few times by being in the right place at the right time. The only driver in the top 10 with fewer stage points is Almirola. Keselowski has just been stalking the pace really well and has avoided wrecks. Maybe the blueprint is the same this week, but this is usually an event about getting in front and staying in front.

Truex hasn’t had many strong finishes this year, but we know he is great on 1.5-mile tracks and has the two wins here at +770. This is the right type of track for him and he is the pick among the favorites, but all of these guys have a great chance to win.

<h3><strong><u>Long Shot?</u></strong></h3>
