Tampa Bay Rays vs Milwaukee Brewers Betting Pick & Prediction 5/1/24

Most of the major signings took place in December, so there wasn't a whole lot of movement in our World Series odds, where the Yankees, Dodgers and Astros are still the top three teams in the odds list. The Yankees did see a slight increase in their odds from +300 to +350, while the Dodgers saw a slight drop, as L.A. moved from +650 to +635.

The Atlanta Braves moved past the Washington Nationals into fourth place, while the defending World Series champions are currently No. 5 in the odds. The Cardinals are No. 6 at +1700, with the New York Mets and Minnesota Twins tied for No. 7, both coming in with odds of +2000.

The Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox round out the top 10, with Cleveland and the Chicago Cubs close behind.

One thing we did see is a shortening off the odds, as there are fewer teams at large odds and the majority of teams saw a decrease in odds, which makes sense, as the season begins in a couple of months and pitchers and catchers will be reporting to training camp in about five weeks.

<strong>From Jan. 1, 2020:</strong> One team that saw a bit of an increase in their odds was the Minnesota Twins, who tumbled down to +3300 and have been busy signing pitchers this offseason, adding Rich Hill and Homer Bailey, most recently. Hill has been decent and Bailey was actually pretty solid for Oakland this past season. The Twins had previously signed Tyler Clippard, so that's three arms they added in the last 11 days of December. The offense should still be there, so the Twins might be worth a bit of a shot at their odds. If they can find some help for Berrios and Odorizzi, which they may have done, the Twins could win some games. They should get Michael Pineda back in May.

Bettors obviously agreed with our early assessment, as the Twins were bet down to +2000. While the Twins are a solid team and the odds still aren't bad, there's a huge difference between +3300 and +2000 on a futures wagers and it's hard to recommend them now.

<p>Dallas needed seven games to beat those pesky Seattle Kraken and they had three days off before starting the Western Conference Finals. It was a good start for the Stars in game one, but the result did not go the way the Dallas fans would have hoped.</p>



<p>Game one got started with Dallas taking a late first period lead and it stayed the way for half of the second period. Vegas got on the board 9:17 into the second period and the game was tied at one going into the final 20 minutes. The teams exchanged four goals in one of the more entertaining periods of the postseason. Vegas grabbed the lead 1:19 into the third period, but Dallas answered right back with a goal three minutes later. The Golden Knights again took the lead, 3-2, but a Stars goal with under two minutes to go sent this game to overtime. Brett Howden scored just 95 seconds into the overtime period to give the Golden Knights the 4-3 victory and a 1-0 series lead.</p>



<p>Jason Robertson, Roope Hintz, and Jamie Benn all got on the scoresheet for Dallas. Three different Stars players recorded at least one assist in the defeat.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-vegas-golden-knights-are-on-a-hot-streak">Vegas Golden Knights Are on A Hot Streak</h2>



<p>Vegas will be happy with their start to this series but won’t be happy that they blew two leads in the third period. The Golden Knights will have to clean that up if they want to win the Stanley Cup, but a win is a win, and they won’t be apologizing for that.</p>



<p>In the game one victory, William Karlsson, two goals, was joined on the scoresheet by Teddy Blueger, and Brett Howden. Seven different Golden Knights recorded at least one assist on the night.</p>
