BMW Championship Preview

Golf

The second round of the 2024 FedEx Cup Playoffs will take place this weekend in Denver, Colorado at the Castle Pines Golf Club. It’s time for the BMW Championship, and the field is limited to the top 50 golfers that have earned enough points to qualify.

Hideki Matsuyama came away with a win at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, and winning these events will really start to matter soon. There will not be a cut this weekend, and that means that there could be some major swings throughout the tournament.

Here is a look at the betting odds to win the BMW Championship, and some things to consider when making picks.

Two Clear Favorites

When looking at the betting odds to win the BMW Championship, there are two names that stand out right away. These are the two golfers that continue to be favored every single weekend, but that doesn’t mean that they have been winning every title.

Scottie Scheffler is once again the betting favorite this weekend as he has odds sitting at +320 to come away with the title. Xander Schauffele is the other golfer that tends to be favored, and his odds are sitting at +550 to come away with the win.

These two are well ahead of the rest in the race to win the FedEx Cup Playoffs, but they do need to start playing some good golf. Betting odds to win the BMW Championship will change after each round, but these two will always remain in the mix.

Other Contenders

Since this is the second event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, there will be a ton of pressure on every single golfer to come away with a win. The betting odds do fall off in a big way after the two favorites, but there are some other talented golfers in the mix.

Rory McIlroy just has not proven that he can win big golf tournaments this year, but he still has odds sitting at +1200 to get this done. Collin Morikawa is another player that always has some good odds, and his odds are at +1400 to win the BMW Championship.

It would be wise to at least consider Hideki Matsuyama at +1600 to win this tournament as he has a ton of momentum. Viktor Hovland is also sitting at +1600, and he is another proven winner in this sport.

If any of the golfers listed above are able to make an early run in Round 1 then they could easily become the betting favorites.

Picking a Winner

There is going to be some great golf played at the BMW Championship, and the course will be set up in a way that will produce some great scoring opportunities. This should have the best golfers putting up a very low score, and it’s going to add to the excitement.

At some point Scottie Scheffler is going to prove his dominance yet again, and this could be the perfect opportunity for that to take place. There will be a ton of great action taking place in Colorado, but going with Scheffler at +320 is going to be the bet to make.
