Return of Tiger Woods Highlights Farmers Insurance Open
A star-studded field is ready to tee it up this week at Torrey Pines Golf Course for the Farmers Insurance Open. This event marks the return of Tiger Woods, who has seven career wins at Torrey Pines. Tiger will have his work cut out for him with a top-heavy field that includes favorite Rory McIlroy, second favorite Jon Rahm, and other outstanding players like Xander Schauffele, Justin Rose, Hideki Matsuyama, Rickie Fowler, and Gary Woodland.
As always, it is best to shop around for the best prices, but McIlroy is that 6/1 favorite at 5Dimes Sportsbook. Justin Rose is 16/1 as the defending champion in this field.
We called upon friend of the site and golf expert handicapper Brian Blessing to share his thoughts with us on this tournament and he did so in the video above, including several of the price plays on his card for this week. There are a lot of top-end players that are either coming stateside for the first time or are coming off of some extended layoffs for this tournament.
When that happens, we get some value on guys that are further down the board and that is always Blessing’s plan of attack before the tournament. You can always find the lower priced guys at better numbers over the course of the tournament with live wagering.
The California swing brings out some annual contenders in events like this and the Honda Classic and last week’s event at La Quinta and PGA West. Some of those guys were highlighted in this article and should be on your radar for this weekend’s Farmers Insurance Open.
