PGA Tour Championship Preview
The final event of the season for the PGA Tour will be taking place this weekend as it’s time for the Tour Championship. This event is reserved for the top 30 players in the standings, and there will be a big advantage for those that have had the best years up to this point.
All of the action is going to be taking place at the East Lake Golf Course, and this is a course that has been challenging to players in the past. Scottie Scheffler will have the biggest advantage to start the weekend, but there is no guarantee that he will come away with a win.
Here is a look at some of the top odds, and a prediction as to how things will play out this weekend.
Dynamic Duo Sitting on Top
When looking at the betting odds to win the Tour Championship, there are two golfers that are well ahead of the rest of the field. That is how things have played out throughout the year as well, and those two players will now have a big advantage.
Scottie Scheffler will start with a score of -10 this weekend, and that will give him a two-stroke lead over the rest of the field. That can be seen in the betting odds as well as Scheffler is the clear betting favorite at +110 (at BetDSI).
While most would agree the Scheffler is the best player on the PGA Tour, you could make a strong case for Xander Schauffele as well. Schauffele will begin the weekend at -8, and he is sitting at +230 to come away with a win this weekend.
These two could easily be battling it out all weekend long, but there are other golfers that will be trying to break through in a big way.
Some Top Contenders
Hideki Mastuyama has been playing well during the playoffs, but he is starting this weekend at a big disadvantage. The odds for Matsuyama are sitting at +1200, but that still means that he is a significant underdog.
The odds just continue to fall off from there, and making up ground just won’t be easy at East Lake. Rory McIlroy is another player that is always in the mix, but at some point he has to start winning tournaments.
McIlroy is at +1600, and then it is Ludvig Aberg at +1800. That really ends the group of top contenders, and then you will be looking to back on a big underdog from a wide range of players.
Picking a Winner
There just isn’t a ton of value in betting on Scheffler this weekend, and he is starting with a sizable advantage on the rest of the field. Scheffler just hasn’t been playing his best golf since the Paris Olympics, and others will be able to take advantage.
If you are going to bet on this event then you will want to jump on Xander Schauffele at +230 as he will catch his rival and end the year with a massive tournament win.
