Flower Bowl Stakes Preview

The action at Saratoga Race Course is not going to be slowing down at all this weekend as there is a full slate of races scheduled. Since the Breeders’ Cup is still to come later on in the year, every race is important for the trainers and owners of the top horses.

It is the Flower Bowl Stakes that is the premier event set to take place this weekend, and the winning horse will earn an automatic berth into the Breeders Cup. There are some big horses scheduled to run, and it should be a great battle.

Here is a look at the odds to win the Flower Bowl Stakes and some things to consider when betting on the action.

Three Main Contenders

When looking at the odds to win the Flower Bowl Stakes, there are going to be three horses to focus on right away. That doesn’t mean that others can’t find a way to contend in this race, but it appears that this will be a three-way battle for the top spot.

War Like Goddess is the current favorite to win this race, and those odds are sitting at +140. There has been some movement in the odds already, but it has been War Like Goddess that has been the clear favorite since the odds were announced.

Linda Rice and Chad Brown are two trainers that are fighting hard to get into the Breeders Cup, and each will have a top contending horse in this field. Movie Moxy (+250) is the top pick for Rice in this race, while Brown will hope that McKulick (+300) is able to make a big run at Saratoga.

Best of the Rest

Amanda’s Folly is another horse that is trained by Linda Rice, and the odds for that horse are impressive as well. That horse has betting odds that are sitting at +350 (at MyBookie) to come away with a win this weekend, and it’s clearly good enough to get the job done.

Eternal Hope has seen its odds move quite a bit since the opening lines were announced, but it has remained in the mix the entire time. The odds for Eternal Hope are sitting at +500, and that will be something to monitor moving forward.

There are also some horses that just have no real shot at winning the race, but there are others in the mix. Here are a few other horses to consider:

  • Neecie Marie +800
  • Verbier +1000
  • Parnac +1200

Choosing a Winner

This feels like a race in which you can look at one of the underdogs to win, or at least keep things extremely tight until the final few seconds. There have been a number of big upsets throughout the year in the sport of horse racing, but you don’t want to go with an underdog to win outright.

The top three horses will all be battling it out, but look for the training of Chad Brown to make a difference. Betting on McKulick at +300 to win the Flower Bowl Stakes is the right way to go.
