Out of the four major sports in the United States it is the NHL that is the least popular and gets the least amount of attention. This is the same when it comes to sports wagering and in fact it even falls far behind college sports like basketball and football. More ..

NHL Betting News, Tips and Picks

12/18 - Anaheim Ducks at San Jose Sharks Preview - The team with the best record in the NHL will try and bounce back from a rare loss as the San Jose Sharks host the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday.  The Sharks had their nine-game winning streak snapped on Saturday as Dwayne Roloson stopped 41 shots to give the Oilers a 3-2 overtime win.  The Sharks outshout the Oilers 43-17 but Roloson was fabulous.  The Sharks still have the NHL’s best record at 22-3-2.

11/19 - Vancouver Canucks at New York Rangers Preview- An excellent hockey betting matchup is on tap Wednesday night as the New York Rangers host the Vancouver Canucks.  It is a battle of two top goaltenders as Vancouver’s Roberto Luongo faces New York’s Henrik Lundqvist.  Luongo has five shutouts to lead the league while Lundqvist leads the league with 12 wins.

11/12 - Boston Bruins at Chicago Blackhawks Preview Two of the hottest teams in hockey meet on Wednesday night as the Chicago Blackhawks host the Boston Bruins.  The Blackhawks have won four straight while the Bruins have won six of their last seven.  Chicago has not made the playoffs since 2001-2002 but look poised to make a serious run under head coach Joel Quenneville.  Chicago is 6-0-2 at home this season and they have the highest average attendance in the league.

11/4 - Minnesota Wild at San Jose Sharks Preview - The red-hot San Jose Sharks will look to stay unbeaten at home as they host the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.  The Sharks have won four straight overall and they have won all six games at home so far this season.  They could have success on Tuesday against Minnesota, considering they have beaten the Wild the last seven times the two teams have played. San Jose has not lost to Minnesota since October of 2006.

10/29 - Detroit Red Wings at Anaheim Ducks Pick - What a difference a week makes for the Anaheim Ducks.  After losing five of their first six games this season the Ducks went on the road for a four-game trip and came away unbeaten to even their record at 5-5.  “It was pretty doom and gloom when we left our building after a decent homestand,” Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle said. “We just felt that we had to regroup, do our things that we do best, stay with the gameplan and things would turn around.”

10/23 -Buffalo Sabres at Minnesota Wild Preview -Two of the remaining four unbeaten teams in the NHL this season meet on Thursday night in Minnesota as the Wild host the Buffalo Sabres.  Both teams are getting excellent goaltending and timely scoring so far this season.  Ryan Miller has given up just six goals on 105 shots this year and has a 1.45 goals against average.

10/22 - Dallas Stars at New Jersey Devils Preview - The Dallas Stars will try and complete the New York double as they face the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night.  The Stars defeated the Rangers 2-1 on Monday as Mike Modano scored the game winner. “It was a lucky bounce,” said Modano, “Those don’t get old. It still gives you the idea that you can still hang around the players and play the game. I’ll stick around a little longer maybe.”  Goaltender Marty Turco made 28 saves in the win for the Stars.

10/21 - Anaheim Ducks at Toronto Maple Leafs Preview - The Anaheim Ducks began the season as Stanley Cup contenders but have not looked the part through six games this season. The Ducks have just a single win and have played poorly many times this season. They will open up a four game road trip in Toronto on Tuesday night.

10/17 - Phoenix Coyotes at Ottawa Senators Preview - The Phoenix Coyotes get a chance to bounce back from their first loss of the season as they travel to Ottawa to face the Senators on Friday.  Phoenix was beaten 4-1 on Wednesday at Chicago. “We played too easy of a game,” head coach Wayne Gretzky said. “After a period and a half, we started to cheat a little bit. If you cheat, you’re going to get beat at this level.”  Friday’s game will be the first real test of the season for the young Coyotes.

10/15 - Buffalo Sabres at New York Rangers Pick and Preview - The New York Rangers will try and make some history on Wednesday night as they host the Buffalo Sabres. The Rangers go for their sixth straight win to start the season and if they get it they would break the record of the 1983-84 team that started 5-0. “To start the season 5-0, we didn’t expect that,” said goaltender Henrik Lundqvist. “But on the trip (to Europe) we knew we had a really good group here, and that we understand what we need to do out there on the ice. And all four lines are playing the same way, with the same commitment, which is very important.”

7/30 - Steven Stamkos can hardly wait to get started for the Tampa Bay Lightning. The No. 1 pick in the NHL draft, already penciled in as the team’s second-line center, signed a three-year, $2.625 million contract that could be worth up to $11.175 million with incentives.

7/29 - Wild sign Bouchard to $20.4 million contract - After trying to trade him earlier this summer, the Minnesota Wild avoided a salary arbitration hearing with Pierre-Marc Bouchard by re-signing the right wing to a five-year, $20.4 million contract.

7/28 - Defenseman Jay Bouwmeester agreed to a one-year contract extension with the Florida Panthers on Monday, one day before the sides were scheduled to go to salary arbitration.

7/25 - The Colorado Avalanche signed forward Marek Svatos to a two-year contract, avoiding an arbitration hearing Friday.
