College Football Betting News - Tips and Picks

1/5 - Fiesta Bowl Texas vs. Ohio St Pick - The Fiesta bowl does not disappoint again this year as it provides one of the better games this year and it will be worth watching. The Texas Longhorns are off a season they are sure to never forget and they get an Ohio St. Buckeye team that is looking to show they have the talent to win a BCS game.

1/3 - International Bowl - The Buffalo team could be the surprise of the country as they have gotten plenty of hype and deserved it all along the way. The Huskies of Connecticut will play them in the International bowl as both teams cross the border into Canada for this contest. Although it is Connecticut that is technically the home team it will be Buffalo that will be the crowd favorite.

1/2 - Cotton Bowl - The ole Miss Rebels take on the Texas Tech Red raiders this year in the Cotton Bowl and this game may be a bit closer than the experts think and if you don’t take a long look at this game you may be making a mistake

Liberty Bowl - The Kentucky Wildcats sneak into the Liberty Bowl with a 6-6 record while the East Carolina Pirates come in with a nine win season and off an impressive campaign. These teams both took similar paths to get here as they both started very hot out of the gate and then stumbled in the middle.

Sugar Bowl - The Utah Utes take on the Alabama crimson tide in what arguably could be the best bowl game of the entire season. The Crimson Tide dominated the standings for most of the year and if not for a late loss would be playing in the Championship game. The Utes went undefeated and even had to beat out an undefeated Boise St for this spot and are now looking to prove they deserve it.

1/1 - Outback Bowl - When these two teams head to Tampa for this game it will be the first meeting ever between the two teams in what looks like it could be a promising game. For South Carolina they have head coach Steve Spurrier and he has been to his share of bowl games going 7-7 over a 14 game stretch and 1-1 with the gamecocks, although he does tend to do well. The ole ball coach put a good team together with some great numbers this year.

Capital One Bowl - The Capitol One presents us with a great New Year’s Day gift as the Spartans take on the Bulldogs and both teams have two of the most talented players in the game today. This game also featured something else and that is a vicious line move as it opened as low as 5.5 and it went as high as 8.5 in some places in favor of the Bulldogs.

Gator Bowl - The Gator bowl pits the Clemson Tigers against the Nebraska Cornhuskers on New Year’s Day! Nebraska was ressurected this year under rookie head coach Bo Pellini. Remember how bad the Huskers were last year? They were trounced by every school and they were not even close against top talent, but what a year it has been as they have turned everything around for an outstanding season!

Rose Bowl - It’s the grand daddy of them all when the Nittany Lions of Penn St take on the Trojans of USC. This is a game that could have everything you like in college football history with great teams, great coaches, and great history.

Orange Bowl - The Bearcats of Cincinnati take on the Virginia Tech Hokies in what should be an exciting matchup in the Orange bowl this year. The teams are not fancy but they have managed to play good football this year and the principle will carry over for this game.

12/31 - Sun Bowl - The Beavers of Oregon St take on the Panthers of Pittsburgh in the Sun bowl. This game will have a meeting of two teams that are headed in positive directions this season.

Music City Bowl - The Eagles come into this bowl games as the best bowl team in recent years as they have the longest active streak in the country at 8 straight and a win here could make it nine straight! Over that time frame the Eagles are 6-2 against the number. After losing a second straight ACC Championship to Virginia Tech you would have to wonder how motivated the Eagles will be for this bowl meeting.

Insight Bowl - The Golden Gophers of Minnesota come into this bowl game with just seven wins on the season but when you stop to realize that they only one a single game last year that is a pretty nice turnaround. The thing of it is they started with seven out of eight wins before losing down the stretch to include a downright beating at home by 55 points to end the season. You have to think that Minnesota is just happy to get here and will look forward to doing better next season.

Chick Fil A Bowl - LSU has to take the top spot when it comes to disappointments, after all they were last year’s defending champions and they lost five of the last eight games to finish a miserable season. This includes losses to second rate Mississippi and Arkansas. For as disappointing that LSU was you can say the exact opposite for the yellow jackets of Georgia Tech.

12/30 - Texas Bowl - The Rice Owls come into this bowl game feeling pretty good. After all they are playing in Reliant stadium which will pretty much make this a home game for the Owls. At 9-3 straight up and a nice 8-4 against the spread the Owls take on the Western Michigan Broncos. Rice will attack this team with a high flying offense that had the conference USA MVP in Clement and put up an average of 42 points per game.

Holiday Bowl - It may have taken a little bit but we finally get into some marquee matchups tonight when the Ducks of Oregon take on the Oklahoma St. Cowboys. The big 12 was arguably the best conference in football this year and they get a chance to prove when they play against the Pac 10 in this prime time thriller! Both teams are looking for the tenth win of the season as they both finished the regular season at 9-3, but it was the Cowboys with a better record against the spread at 9-3 while the ducks finished at just 6-6.

Humanitarian Bowl - Two teams that come in at 7-5 on the year come into the Humanitarian bowl as Nevada Wolfpack take on the Maryland Terrapins. This one shapes up as nice meeting with these teams evenly matched on the surface but its time to dig deeper and pick a winner!

12/29 - Alamo Bowl - The Northwestern Wildcats have to be applauded for a great season that not too many of the experts were expecting as they finished 9-3 while getting an invite to the Alamo Bowl. That very well could be where the good news ends for the Wildcats. They have a bowl game and they have not won one of those since 1948 and the head coach Fitzgerald is a rookie in bowl games.

PapaJohns.Com Bowl - The records may indicate differently with NC St. Wolf pack at just 6-6 and the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers at 7-5, but these two teams come into this one red hot and it should lead to a very interesting game.

12/28 - Independence Bowl - This is one of those bowl games you read about. It’s the only bowl game on for the day after Christmas yet the two teams are not the most well known in the country so if you don’t do your homework you are going to be lost when trying to make a play on this game but sure enough you will do it! So let us do the ground work for you. The thing about this game is that both of these teams are somewhat evenly matched. The Northern Illinois Huskies come into this game at 6-6 on the year and are 6-5 against the number in that span. The Louisiana Tech bulldogs are equally as average coming in with a 7-5 record and 5-6 ATS.

12/27 - Emerald Bowl Miami and California meet in the Emerald bowl and this is a story of two teams that are heading in opposite directions. Miami is1-9 ATS off an over and 4-12 ATS after 1st month of season so that means they start fast and usually fade under the bight lights of a bowl game. Miami only covered against one winning team this year and they have failed in the last two out of three up to this game and have little motivation during this trip.

Champs Sports Bowl - This is another year and another bowl game for these two teams as they enter the Champs Sports bowl. For Florida St. you have to wonder if they wanted to be here as they had hoped they would be at the Gator Bowl and playing a game in Jacksonville but were snubbed for Clemson. Even though the recent years have not been great overall for the Seminoles they have done very well in bowl games at 20-10-1 SU and 18-10-1 ATS. The

Meineke Car Care Bowl - The name is not too snazzy but the game should be worth the watch as two very talented teams face off in the Car Care bowl. The Heels finish the regular season on a roll with 8 regular season wins and may have an ace in the hole for the big game. Head Coach Butch Davis is 4-0 straight up and against the spread in bowl games, and that shows he knows how to get his players up for a big game!

12/26 - Motor City Bowl - Florida Atlantic comes into this contest as the third team that finished the season at 6-6 and has been granted access to a bowl game. The Owls of Florida Atlantic are no slouches though when it comes to bowl games. Head coach Schnellenberger took over the program in 2001 when they didn’t have a football team.

12/24 - Hawaii Bowl - This just goes to show you how far the mighty have fallen in the Notre Dame fighting Irish. Notre Dame follows Southern Mississippi has a team with a .500 record to make a bowl game. It is a bit different with Notre Dame however because they will invite more revenue to a bowl game. Both of these teams had high expectations and not one of them could meet them.

12/23 - Poinsettia Bowl - TCU played a good schedule and finished with a very impressive 10-2 record and some key wins along the way. Boise St finished undefeated at 12-0 but were overlooked by the BCS folks and Utah got the coveted invite to play against Alabama. The question will be would this motivate Boise St or depress them as instead of a BCS game they play TCU in San Diego.

12/21 - New Orleans Bowl This is a rarity for a bowl game because you get the Golden Eagles of Southern Mississippi in this game and they finished at 6-6 and will not even have a winning record. Troy on the other hand has a winning record and won the Sun Belt Conference and head towards another New Orleans bowl.

12/20 - EagleBank Bowl - On paper this game looks like he could be a sluggish back and forth between two teams that don’t actually have high powered offenses but when you start to look deeper it actually has the makings of a pretty good contest! This is the first time that this bowl has ever been played and Wake Forest gets a chance for revenge in this one. They were ranked #16 this year when Navy upset them and sent them tumbling down the rankings.

New Mexico Bowl - The second game in the bowl schedule is the complete polar opposite of the first one as the Bulldogs of Fresno St take on the Rams of Colorado St. The first thing that jumps out at us is the fact that the Bulldogs have been burning money all year long for Bulldog backers as they are just 10-26 ATS in the last 36 lined games that they have played in.

St Petersburg Bowl - Seems like the same song and dance for the South Florida Bulls. In the early season they are rated highly and projected by many to make a splash in the season win the Big East and do well. They start the season off by winning and winning big, then are upset and fade away as the season goes on. This has to wear on the team as they see it happening all over again. They went from title contender to falling off the map just like they did last year.

Las Vegas Bowl - The location of this game is in sin city and you would think that would make for a home field advantage for the Arizona Wildcats since they are so close, but that is not the case. BYU has such a huge following so you can expect the fans to travel as they have in the past when the cougars have played in this game. This game is going to be on turf and you think that would play in favor for BYU but they are just 9-17 ATS on turf since 1993.
