Alabama at Georgia Pick and Preview
A Top-10 showdown between SEC teams is set for Saturday night on ESPN as #3 Georgia hosts #8 Alabama. Georgia started the season at number one, is still unbeaten, but has dropped to #3 in the polls. The Bulldogs continue to play well including a very impressive 27-10 road win at Arizona State last week. Heisman Trophy candidate Knowshon Moreno ran for 149 yards and two touchdowns
Tennessee at Auburn Pick and Preview
The Auburn Tigers will try and send Tennessee to their worst start in 14 years as they host the Volunteers on Saturday. Tennessee has not played well this season and it doesn’t figure to get any easier on Saturday against the Tigers. Auburn nearly pulled off the upset last week against LSU but lost 26-21 as LSU scored with just over a minute to go.
Connecticut at Louisville Preview and Pick
Friday night’s Big East contest on ESPN 2 between Connecticut and Louisville should be entertaining. The Cardinals are led by senior quarterback Hunter Cantwell and senior defensive tackle Earl Heyman. The Huskies are unbeaten on the season while the Cardinals are 2-1 after last week’s 38-29 win over Kansas State. Redshirt freshman Victor Anderson had 176 yards and three touchdowns for the Cardinals in the win.
USC at Oregon State Pick and Preview
#1 ranked USC begins Pac-10 play on Thursday at Oregon State. The Trojans will be trying to win their seventh straight Pac-10 title. USC has won 9 of the last 10 meetings against Oregon State but they did lose to the Beavers in 2006. Both teams had byes last week and should be well rested for Thursday’s game. USC has a dominating defense led by linebackers Rey Maualuga and Brian Cushing. On offense the Trojans have quarterback Mark Sanchez.
LSU at Auburn Pick and Preview
A battle of Top 10 teams is in the National spotlight on Saturday night as #10 Auburn hosts #6 LSU. The home team has dominated this series recently, winning the last eight times. That could spell trouble for LSU as they last won at Auburn in 1998. LSU head coach Les Miles believes his team has what it takes to break the streak.
Miami Florida at Texas A&M Pick and Preview
Miami of Florida travels to Texas A&M on Saturday in a rare matchup between the two teams. Both squads are 1-1 on the season. Miami has scored 55 total points this season while Texas A&M has scored 42. The Hurricanes will probably be without running back Javarris James who sprained his ankle against Florida.
Wake Forest at Florida State Pick and Preview
18th ranked Wake Forest opens up ACC play at #24 Florida State on Saturday in a nationally televised game on ESPN 2. Both teams enter the game unbeaten at 2-0. Wake Forest has defeated Baylor and Mississippi while Florida State defeated Western Carolina and Chattanooga. Wake Forest has won the past two meetings against Florida State although the Seminoles own the overall series edge 21-4-1.
East Carolina at North Carolina State Pick and Preview
East Carolina has proven they are a Top 25 team but to stay there they will have to win on the road at North Carolina State on Saturday. East Carolina upset Virginia Tech and West Virginia to start the season and just got by Tulane last week. East Carolina turned it over four times and was lucky to escape with a win.
Baylor at Connecticut Pick and Preview
The Connecticut Huskies look to go 4-0 to start the season as they host the Baylor Bears on Friday night. This nationally televised game on ESPN 2 should have some offense in it as Baylor is coming off a game in which they scored 45 points in a win against Washington State while Connecticut scored 45 points in their rout of Virginia last week.
West Virginia at Colorado Pick and Preview
The West Virginia Mountaineers will try and get back to basics on Thursday night as they travel to Colorado to face the Buffaloes. The Mountaineers played badly in their 24-3 loss to East Carolina on September 6th and head coach Bill Stewart has said the team will get back to running the ball on Thursday. Quarterback Pat White is 334 yards of becoming only the second quarterback in NCAA history to rush for more than 4,000 yards in his career.
